In our contemporary society: in the home, work, and church, the theme of leadership is becoming more crucial. The influence of leadership is most important to the followers of the leaders in the church. God has provided us with leaders to attempt to guide His people for the right direction with him The aim of this paper is to explore the self leadership to revitalize the ministry in the Korean church. The first part of this paper presents the definition and a constituent elements of self leadership. Self leadership can be described as "the process of influencing oneself". and a constituent of elements are self concept and self control. The next part of this paper examines self leadership in scripture and spiritual self leadership. It starts with the presents of God and develops self leader's identity for clear purpose of the ministry. It requires self control and training for continual influence to the community and church The later part of this paper portrays the development of self leadership through a few ideas to revitalize the ministry in the Korean church. First, the self leader helps the creating core values of Christian life. Second, the self leader helps the importance of having purpose and meaning in life. Third, the self leader must be able to give motivation to live for the others and churches. Fourth, the self leader practices in his life by stewardship. The church leaders must not become class conscious and work to serve the followers using his position. He must become a minister that serves his church and the world. Therefore, the ministry becomes revitalized by developing self leaders.

다원화된 이 시대의 전환기에 있어서 크리스천 공동체인 교회에서도 리더십은 성도들의 개인적인 신앙 성숙뿐만 아니라 교회의 성장과도 밀접한 관계가 있기 때문에 좀 더 열린 마음을 갖고 계발해 나가야 할 것이다. 그동안 리더십에 대한 많은 논의가 타인이나 공동체를 위한 성공적인 리더십 수행과 자질 및 기술 등 영향력에 초점을 맞추어 왔다고 이야기 할 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 리더가 자신들의 전문분야에서 영향력을 나타내는 수준 높은 리더십을 자기 관리능력을 키우는 셀프 리더십에서 나타내지 못한다면 대다수의 사람들과 공동체로부터 리더십을 상실하고 신뢰를 얻지 못할 것이다. 셀프리더십은 스스로 자기 자신에게 영향력을 미치기 위한 과정 즉 자기영향력을 행사하기 위하여 사용되는 모든 사고와 책임 있는 행동을 말하는 데 그 구성요소는 자아개념의 인식과 자기관리이다. 성경에는 셀프 리더십의 중요성에 대하여 많은 곳에서 언급하고 있는 데 크리스천의 셀프 리더십을 위서서는 하나님의 현존과 영원성에 대한 인식이 기초이며, 자아 정체성 발견 및 확립을 위한 소명의식이 고취되어야 하고, 그에 따른 자기절제 및 훈련을 통한 지속적인 영향력이 요구된다. 또한 목회사역이 활성화를 위하여 셀프 리더십개발이 필요하다. 그것은 자아개념을 인식하여 삶의 가치를 정립하도록 하며, 사명의식을 깨달아 삶의 목표를 세우도록 하고, 동기부여를 통해 자신보다는 타인을 위해 살도록 하여 청지기적 삶으로 셀프 리더십을 실천하는 것이다. 이를 통하여 목회자는 물론 모든 그리스도인들이 건강한 리더가 되어 한국교회사역이 활성화되기를 기대한다.
