The purpose of this study is to assess the effectiveness of the dance program and performing arts activities by examining the differences in social development of the elementary school children in domestic and international marriages. In order to investigate the impact of the program, all of the subjects were carefully chosen from an elementary school in Gongju, Choong Chung Nam Do with 6 inter-racial students and 6 domestic students across all ages. All 12 students participated in the same program and performed the same activities in order for us to assess the differences more clearly. The dance program positively impacted both parties’ social development, but proved to be more effective on the inter-racial students as was the case for self-efficacy. Therefore, by looking at the effectiveness of the dance program, we should not only focus on understanding the multi-cultural educational methods but we should also hope to develop and implement a variety of dance programs that prove practical and effective in aiding self-efficacy and social development of the inter-racial students.

이 연구의 목적은 일반 가정 자녀와 다문화가정 자녀를 대상으로 무용프로그램과 공연활동을 실시하여 사회성 발달을 분석하는 것이다. 연구대상은 충청남도 공주시 K초등학교에 재학 중인 다양한 연령의 다문화 가정 자녀 6명과 일반 가정 자녀 6명으로 하였다. 무용프로그램 적용은 주 2회 2시간씩 12주간, 총 20회기(공휴일 제외)를 진행하였고, 마지막 주에는 2회 공연활동을 하도록 하였다. 프로그램 참여와 공연활동을 통한 변화를 분석하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 무용프로그램의 적용은 다문화 가정 자녀와 일반 가정 자녀 모두의 사회성에 긍정적인 영향을 주었으며 다문화 가정 자녀가 일반 가정 자녀보다 사회성이 보다 더 증가되었다. 이는 다문화가정 자녀에 비해 긍정적인 성향이 강했던 일반 가정 자녀들은 바람직한 방향으로의 변화는 보이나 비슷한 수준의 정서상태를 유지하고 있고 부정적이고 소극적인 성향이 강했던 다문화 가정 자녀는 긍정적인 방향으로 변화의 폭이 크게 나타났음을 알 수 있다. 이러한 연구결과를 고찰해 볼 때 사회적 편견, 언어문제, 교육문제, 정체성 혼란, 따돌림 문제 등으로 위축되어있던 다문화 가정 자녀들이 ‘댄스’를 매개로 하는 프로그램을 통해 자신감을 키우고 여러 명이 함께하는 사교적인 활동을 통하여 사회성을 키워 바람직한 방향으로 발전되었다는 것을 알 수 있다. 이러한 무용프로그램의 효과성을 볼 때 앞으로 더욱 다문화 가정 자녀의 사회성 발달에 도움이 되는 다양한 무용프로그램이 개발되고 적용될 수 있기를 바란다.
