Coasean model threw light on mainstream economics, by embracing institution, as holistic elements of collective society, in the theoretical mould of methodological individualism, though the model has a serious conceptual weakness of transaction cost. Austrian school explains how free individual action, through information discovery process, enables the shaping of spontaneous order as unintended consequence governing social community and leads to the long-term institutional evolution. Its shortcoming is destitute of scientific method and lack of support in historical factual evidence. Institutions are fruits outgrowing from communal interface among individuals, who were engaged in community life and strived to find out mutually agreeable social order. Institution serves as linchpin connecting methodological individualism to the holism of community.

코스 모형(Coasean model) 은 주류경제학의 방법론적 개인주의의 이론 구도 안에서 사회 집단적 현상인 제도를 끌어 안을 수 있는 이론 틀을 제시하였다. 다만 거래비용의 개념이 불완전하다는 치명적 문제점을 가지고 있다. 오스트리아 학파는 개인의 자유로운 의사결정이 정보의 발견과정을 통하여 사회집단에 자생적 질서를 형성하고 장기적으로 제도를 진화하게 됨을 밝히고 있다. 이들의 단점은 과학적 방법론과 사실성의 결핍이다. 제도는 집단생활에 임하는 개인들이 합의를 통하여 찾아낸 집단적 선택의 결과이다. 제도는 방법론적 개인주의를 사회집단의 문제(holism)로 연결해준다.
