In recent times, education of Korean culture begins to be considered very important in the field of the education of Korean language as a foreign language. In this article, three points are suggested for the better practice of Korean cultural education.
First of all, culture should not be considered as a mere object which has nothing to with us. To do better education of Korean culture, one should live and think in Korean way. Second point is that we should teach contemporary Korean culture rather than traditional one. For example, when we teach foreign people about wedding ceremony of Korea, it is a ‘must’ that we teach them contemporary Korean wedding ceremony rather than traditional one. Lastly, the uniqueness of Korean culture can be shown well in the comparison with cultures of other countries, among of which Chinese and Japanese cultures are best.

최근 들어 한국어교육에서 한국 문화교육이 상당히 중요한 분야로 고려되기 시작하였다. 본고에서 필자는 한국 문화교육 현장에 적용할 만한 세 가지 중요한 관점을 제안하고자 한다.
그 첫째가 문화는 객체화 시키는 자체가 불가능하므로 주체로 인식되어야 한다는 것이다. 한국 문화를 보다 잘 교수하기 위해서 는 교사부터 한국 문화적으로 살고 사고해야 할 것이다.
두 번째는 한국의 현대 문화를 가르치는 것이 한국 전통 문화를 가르치는 것보다 중요하다는 것을 알아야 한다. 예를 들어, 어떤 교사가 한국의 결혼 문화를 외국인 학습자에게 가르친다고 할 때 전통 혼례를 가르치는 것보다 지금 한국인들이 수행하고 있는 결혼 의례를 가르치는 것이 더 의미 있다. 외국인이 직접 목도하고 체험할 수 있는 것은 현대의 결혼식이기 때문이다.
끝으로 한국 문화의 고유성은 다른 문화와의 비교를 통해 더 잘 드러난다는 사실을 인식할 필요가 있다. 일본과 중국과의 비교를 통해 한국 문화의 정체성을 분명히 하는 것이 가장 바람직할 것이다.
