There are lots of worries in schools because language of adolescents are getting coarse and violent. Today’s adolescents are using lots of swear words as everyday language even though they don’t know the meanings. Reason why adolescents are using swear words is because of their hard and tough living realities which are surrounding themselves and they think they don’t use them when they become the adults.
However, swear words break relationships and cause conflicts between classmates and make desolate education environments. In addition, swear words simplify users’ thoughts and consequently give bad influences to the development of their intelligence. Accordingly, schools should have the interests in guiding the students to have purification of their language to make healthy language culture.
In this paper, reading instruction methods for language purification were discussed by using available media in school. There are something lacking which the effects were not verified but, if teachers take good advantage of the programs with active intentions, it is expected that students’ languages will be purified better than now.

청소년의 언어가 갈수록 거칠어지고 폭력적인 성향을 띠어서 학교 현장에서 고민을 많이 하고 있다. 요즘 청소년들은 뜻도 모르고 욕설을 일상어처럼 많이 쓰고 있다. 청소년이 욕설을 많이 사용하는 이유는 그들을 둘러싼 각박한 삶의 현실 때문이며, 그들이 성인이 되면 쓰지 않을 것이라고 예측한다.
하지만 욕설은 관계를 단절시키고, 동급생끼리의 갈등을 유발하며, 삭막한 교육 환경을 조성하게 된다. 또한 욕설 사용자의 사고를 단순화시켜 지능 발달에도 악영향을 미친다. 그러므로 청소년의 건전한 언어문화 조성을 위해 일선 학교에서는 언어 순화에 대해 관심을 가지고 지도를 해야 한다.
본고에서는 학교에서 활용 가능한, 매체를 활용한 언어 순화 독서 지도 방안에 대해 논의해 보았다. 효과의 검증을 하지 못한 아쉬움이 있다. 하지만 교사가 적극적인 의지를 가지고 프로그램을 잘 활용한다면 현재보다 학생들의 언어가 순화될 것이라고 생각한다.
