Some local governments recognize the importance of Hyo and ard enacting an ordinance by passing a "law on supporting and promoting the Hyo practice. So Hyo practice education in school is growing rapidly. The Hyo practice education is also practicing actively as an alternative that is a new education of personality associated with a school violence. As a result establishing a direction of the Hyo practice education is urgently needed. The Characteristics of the Hyo practice education are mysterious, revival of life, mourning at the graves of one´s parents during 3 years, physical damage and so on. Though we are hard to follow the Hyo practice in changing times, this study approached the direction of Hyo mind rather Hyo action. This study search the traditional Hyo practice problem and limitation, and consider a meaning about the need of the Hyo practice education. This study also suggest the direction through the Hyo practice's present conditions and problems. First, the Hyo practice education should carry out consistently. Second, the Hyo practice education should carry out as soon as possible when they are children. Third, the Hyo practice education should contacted generally by various media. Forth, the Hyo practice education should carry out for the parents and children at the same time. Fifth, We should use the variety Hyo experience programs practically. It is important to recognize the virtue of Hyo should follow the practice and the study of Hyo as a educational perspectives about the direction should research consistently.

“효행장려 및 지원에 관한 법률”이 국회 통과로 인하여 일부 지방자치단체들이 효의 중요성을 인식하고 조례를 제정하고 있으며 효행교육은 학교에서 급속도로 확산되고 있는 실정이다. 또한 최근에 논란이 되고 있는 학원폭력과 맞물려 무너져 가는 공교육의 현 상황에서 새로운 인성교육의 대안으로 효 교육이 활성화 되고 있음은 주지의 사실이다. 따라서 학생들에게 적합한 효행교육의 방향을 설정하는 것이 시급한 과제로 떠오르고 있다. 연구자는 전통적인 효행의 특징으로 신비적, 생명회생, 3년시묘, 신체훼손 등으로 나타났음을 고찰하였다. 비록 시대적인 상황의 변화 속에서 효행의 모습을 따라가기에는 무리가 있으나 연구자는 효 행위 보다는 효심에 대한 방향으로 접근하였다. 그리고 전통적인 효행의 문제와 한계점을 살펴보았으며, 현대적인 효행교육의 필요성에 대한 의미를 살펴보고 현대적인 효행교육의 현황과 문제를 통하여 앞으로 나아가야 할 방향을 다음과 같이 제시해 보았다. 첫째, 청소년들에게 효행교육은 지속적으로 이루어져야 한다. 둘째, 효행교육은 가급적 어린 시기 때부터 실시하여야 한다. 셋째, 효행교육은 다양한 매체를 통하여 전방위적으로 접촉할 수 있도록 하여야 한다. 넷째. 효행교육은 부모-자녀에게 동시에 이루어져야 한다. 다섯째, 다양한 효 체험 프로그램을 활용할 수 있어야 한다. 효는 실천이 뒤따라야 하는 덕목임을 인식하고 앞으로 효에 대한 가치나 효심을 어떠한 방향으로 이끌어 갈 것인지에 대한 교육학적인 연구는 지속되어야 할 것이다.
