<기연회봉록>은 남주인공 유봉상과 여주인공인 황채란, 전학선, 손롱선, 채혜운이 헤어지고 만나 가족을 이루는 내용의 소설이다. 남녀주인공이 만남과 헤어짐, 여주인공이 남주인공과 분리되었을 때 경험하는 受難과 忍苦의 과정, 극적인 재상봉 등을 다채롭게 풀어나가고 있다. 남주인공의 영웅적 면모보다는 여주인공들과의 만남을 통해 사랑 성취에 의미를 두고 있다는 점에서 <기연회봉록>은 애정소설, 기봉소설의 범주에 든다고 본다. <기연회봉록>은 이제껏 작품의 그 존재 여부가 확인되지 않았으나, ‘순천 시립 뿌리 깊은 나무 박물관’에 소장되어 있으며, 본고에서 처음으로 소개하였다. 본고는 유일본인 <기연회봉록>을 구체적인 서지 사항과 작품 경개 및 구조를 소개하였다. 첫날 밤 사라진 신부의 서사 구조 속에 남녀가 나눈 신물 때문에 후일 남녀주인공이 재상봉을 한다는 이야기가 주축이 되었다. 독특한 점은 喪夫한 여주인공을 만난 남주인공이 승승장구하며 헤어진 여주인공과 상봉한다는 사실이다. 다른 고전소설에서는 찾을 수 없는 화소로 <기연회봉록>에서만 찾을 수 있다.
