The purpose of this study was to examine the differences of effect on the mental health of children in preschool or elementary school by training Taekwondo. To accomplish this research, the data for the present study were collected from their parents, 216 fathers and 158 mothers, through questionnaire and were analyzed as follows. 1. Test on the differences of the factor according to gender showed that by training Taekwondo, the impact on the development of mental health is higher to boys than to girls in all these sub factors such as tension, depression, anger, vigor, fatigue, or confusion, which was statistically significant at the p<.001 level of significance. 2. Test on the differences of the factor according to age showed that by training Taekwondo, the impact on the development of mental health was the highest at the age of 12 to 13 in these sub factors such as tension, anger, or fatigue and the effect was more positive on children at the age of 12 to 13 than on those at the age of 7 or at the age of 8 to 9 at the p<.01 level or at the p<.05 level of significance. 3. Test on the differences of the factor according to training period showed children training Taekwondo for 1 to 2 years or more 3 years had the most positive influence, which had a statistically significant difference at the p<.01 level or at the p<.001 level of significance. Through post evaluations, they had more positive effects than those training Taekwondo for under 6 months or 6 to 12 months in case of the development of mental health. 4. Test on the differences of the factor according to ‘Gup’ or "Poom', a kind of level in Taekwondo showed that children in the first Poom had positive effects on these sub factors such as depression, anger or confusion and in the second Poom such as vigor or fatigue at the p<.01 level or at the p<.05 level of significance. Through post evaluations, it was clear that children in over the 2nd Poom or the 1st Poom had improved more positively than those in the 1st Gup or under the 2nd Gup in all the factors of mental health at the p<.01 level or at the p<.05 level of significance. 5. Test on the differences of the factor according to the purpose of training Taekwondo showed children on the purpose of their preference, emotional development, physical development or talent development had more positive effects than those on the purpose of school P.E, self defense, weight control or height at the p<.001 level of significance in case of the development of mental health, which had a statistical significance. 6. Test on the differences of the factor according to their father’s educational status showed that children with fathers having graduated from graduate school or college had better effect than those with fathers having finished high school or below in these factors such as tension, depression, or vigor at the p<.001 level or p<.05 level of significance. Also it was a remarkable difference that children with mothers who had a high level of education have more positive effect than those who have mothers having finished high school or below junior college in these sub factors such as tension or vigor at the p<.001 level of significance in case of the development of mental health, which had a statistical significance. 7. Test on the differences of the factor according to average earnings per month showed that in sub factors such as depression, tension, or vigor, 3 to 4 million won or over 4 million won a month had more positive effect than 2 million won or 2 to 3 million won a month, which was statistically significant. Through post evaluations, it was revealed that 3 to 4 million won or more 4 million won a month effected more positively than below 2 million won a month at the p<.05 level of significance in case of the development of mental health.
