The forehead, which accounts for a third of the entire face area, affects the air of people and the way they style their hair. In terms of physiognomy and phrenology, the forehead is reported as the most important part of the face. The hairline changes due to illness, and hair loss is caused by stress, but the hairline cans also be modified with makeup according to age and personality. To see how hairline makeup affects impression of good and evil characters in television series, the characters King Geunchogo and Gyeback are used as examples in this study, since the two television series are based on a same historical background(Baekjae era). According to the television series, there are major differences in the appearance of characters according to their social position. With higher social position, the characters have square-shaped hairlines which show their determination. On the other hand, the characters have M-shaped forehead lines when their positions are low. In differences of hairlines according to personality of the characters, complex-shaped hairlines were used on evil, determined characters. Future studies should be conducted on different hairlines according to personality of characters not only in historical television series and but also in modern television series.

이마는 얼굴 면적의 3분의 1을 차지하는 부분으로 전체 분위기를 나타내며 헤어스타일 연출에도 영향을 준다. 또한 관상학과 골상학에서는 이마를 가장 중요한 부분으로 보고 있다. 이마에 해당하는 헤어라인 분장은 나이에 따라 변화하는 헤어라인 분장, 성격에 따른 다양한 헤어라인 분장, 병으로 인한 헤어라인 변화 분장, 현대인의 스트레스로 인한 탈모현상에 따른 분장, 등으로 나타날 수 있다. 인상에 영향을 주는 헤어라인 분장연구 방법은 백제시대를 배경으로 방영된 사극 근초고왕과 계백을 중심으로 신분에 따라 선과 악의 캐릭터로 나누어 살펴보았다. 두 사극 드라마의 신분에 따른 특징을 살펴보면 신분이 높을수록 결단력이 돋보이는 각진형의 양상이 보여지고, 신분이 낮으면 M자형 이마라인이 나타났다. 캐릭터에 따른 이마라인을 살펴보면 성격이 굳세고 악한 캐릭터일수록 반항형으로 대표적인 이마라인인 복합형 형태를 띄고 있다. 악하며 사악한 캐릭터 일수록 각진 복합형 양상이 보여지며, 헤어라인 가운데 부분에서 삼각형으로 튀어나와있는 부분이 강하게 두드러지도록 분장되었다. 사극뿐만이 아니라 다양한 장르와 헤어라인에 따른 성격 인식 차이에 대한 심도있는 연구가 되어져야 하겠다.
