The goals of this study are to examine various expressive techniques and design characteristics of deformation in art to wear since 2000 and to obtain design samples that can be applied to art to wear pieces by exploring artists’ intentions and trends. Methods of this study are theoretical inquiry and case analysis with the photographs of art to wear. The subjects are the pieces of art to wear since 2000 where the artist’s intention is expressed. The study shows that the expressive techniques of deformation are distortion, exaggeration, simplification and optical illusion, and the most frequently used expressive techniques of deformation are distortion and exaggeration. The design characteristics are expansion, grotesque characteristics, pleasure, virtuality, etc. According to the result of studying the expressive techniques and design characteristics of deformation, the trends in art to wear since 2000 show subjective and individual styles using various techniques of deformation to suit individual tastes, not recreations of previous works of art. Also, the works shows various and symbolic expressions that reflect the changes of the times and culture and social issues.

본 연구의 목적은 2000년 이후 예술 의상 작품에 나타난 데포르마시옹의 다양한 표현기법과 조형특성을 연구하고, 작가의 창작의도와 경향을 분석하여 예술 의상 작품에 응용할 수 있는 디자인 자료를 얻는데 있다. 연구방법은 이론적 고찰과 예술 의상 작품사진을 바탕으로 사례 분석하였다. 연구범위는 2000년 이후의 예술적 의상을 대상으로 작가의 창작의지가 표출된 작품들로 한정하였다. 연구결과, 예술 의상 작품에 나타난 데포르마시옹의 표현기법은 왜곡, 과장, 단순화, 착시 등이 나타났으며, 가장 많이 표현된 기법은 왜곡과 과장으로 나타났다. 조형특성은 확대성, 기괴성, 유희성, 가상성 등으로 나타났으며, 이들 중 확대성이 가장 두드러지게 나타났다. 데포르마시옹의 표현기법과 조형특성을 살펴본 결과, 2000년 이후 예술 의상 작품에 나타난 작품의 경향은 기존의 예술작품의 재현이 아닌 작가의 독자적인 개성에 따라 다양한 데포르마시옹의 기법을 사용하여 주관적이고 개성적인 작품이 많이 나타났다. 또 작가의 예술적 감성에 시대, 문화의 변화나 사회적 이슈들이 반영되어 다양한 표현과 상징적 제시에 의해 창작되는 것으로 나타났다.
