In order to bolster the international competitiveness of the Korean textile industry, the global fiber market should closely be analyzed to find out what changes it has undergone, and then the kind of strategies that focus on the development of the especially competitive areas of the textile industry should be formulated. The purpose of this study was to examine the determinants of the competitive edge of the fiber industry and the influence of the determinants in our country. As a result of investigating the determinants of the competitive edge of the textile industry, foreign direct investment(FDI) by Korean, GDP, population size, inward foreign direct investment(IFDI) inflows and real effective exchange rate were identified as the determinants. It could be said that the determinants have a decisive impact on the exports of the Korean textile industry.
