Accommodation plays a significant role in promoting tourist consumption and exchange. However, it is still unclear about actual constitution of Lodging Tourism and what constitutive system is necessary. This study aims to analyze current situations of Lodging Tourism in terms of using and their constitutive features by understanding Japanese tourism statistics based on this unclear awareness. The conclusion shows the factors that play important roles in constituting Lodging Tourism and stabilizing them are guests in purpose of work and high-level services in cities. Therefore, use and constitutive system of Lodging Tourism are mutual combination and fullness of high-level service areas. Accordingly, what requires for revitalization of Lodging Tourism is presumably responding actions to cities and work purposes.

숙박은 관광객의 소비와 관광적 교류를 활성화 시켜 나가는 데 있어서 매우 중요한 역할을 한다. 그러나 숙박관광이 실제적으로 어떠한 형태로 이루어지고 있고 어떠한 구성체계가 필요한 것인지에 대해서는 아직 명확히 밝혀지고 있지 않다. 본 연구는 이러한 인식을 바탕으로 일본 관광통계를 이용하여, 숙박관광의 이용실태와 그의 구성적 특성을 밝힌 것에 있다. 연구결과 숙박관광의 이용과 구성에 있어서는 숙박목적의 숙박객뿐만 아니라 업무목적의 숙박객과 중심도시의 기능이 매우 큰 것으로 나타난다. 또한 이러한 업무목적 숙박객의 경우 숙박관광의 안정성에도 크게 기여하는 것으로 나타난다. 따라서 숙박관광이 활성화되기 위해서는 이러한 도시 및 업무목적에 대한 대응태세가 필요할 것 으로 판단된다. 또한 관광지역에서는 이러한 형태가 보다 구조적인 형태로 안착될 수 있도록 관광권과 같은 하나의 권역을 중심으로 한 주변환경과 숙박시설의 일체적 정비와 이를 기반으로 한 관광활동 및 사업과의 연계구조가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
