This thesis was begun to provide the foundation of leadership, which has been receiving a big concern from the ministers in local churches, as a task of practical theology. Due to an excessive compartmentalized methodology in the contemporary academic field, various theological themes have been dealt with in the aspect of reductionism or relativism and it made a difficult situation to do an extensive understanding and application upon several factors within theology. While traditional categories and themes still maintain their former boundaries, newly emerging themes often try to show their academic adequacy through the separation from the past. This theological structure based on separation produces a certain malfunction to both theology as a whole and its details, which probably leads to collateral damage. From this aspect, this thesis argues that practical theology cannot survive without its relation to other theological studies such as biblical, systematic, and historical fields. On the other hand, individual themes, which belong to each theological field, should maintain a close and dynamic relationship to other sections in the same field. Particularly, it strives to resolve a situation of theological inability originated from a dichotomic separation between transcendence and immanence, essence and existence, and theory and practice using leadership as an intermediator. However, this intention does not mean that leadership is able to revive the rest of all theologies. Rather, in order to appropriately deal with leadership in the area of practical theology, this thesis suggests a method of incorporation and coexistence, thus, it expects the overall spread of methodological shift over the rest of theology as a whole. Before the middle age in European society, theology, spirituality and leadership were regarded as exclusive privileges which could not be shared by the majority of the society. A few intelligentsia or the powerful monopolized knowledge which became a strong weapon to protect their political hegemony. But, such knowledge was popularized as the passing of time and the majority of people naturally embraced the possession of knowledge. As a result, people's worldview has been widened and the perspective on religion has been drastically changed as well. Now, knowledge, which moved its initiative from privileged class to secular society, expands its horizon into real world, so its subject matter and practical area have been improving more diversly unlike its past. This historically swift change necessarily influences the holistic understanding of theology as well. While theology's nature moves from theory and logic to existence and exploration, the methodology of theology cannot imagine itself without the ordinary life of common people. The past tendency of theology according to isolation and separation lost its ground. If theology wants to gain its appropriateness, it should concentrate on the way of how to find Trinitarian God in the midst of ordinary people's life. This thesis performs the above task through the studies of leadership. Yet, it does not make any detailed topics or various instructions regarding leadership. Rather, its ultimate objective is to accomplish a theoretical foundation for continuous development of leadership as a task of practical theology in its correlation to spirituality and theology. Unless this presupposition is possible, the reason of practical theology's heavy concern on leadership would be decreased. Thus, this thesis focuses on retaining such consistent logic for the further improvement of leadership

이 논문은 교회현장의 목회자들로부터 큰 관심을 받고 있는 리더십을 실천신학의 과제로 다루기 위한 근거를 제공할 목적으로 시작되었다. 과도하게 세분화된 현대 사회의 연구방법론들 때문에 다양한 신학적 주제들이 환원주의 또는 상대주의 관점에서만 다루어지면서, 신학 내부에서도 제 요소들에 대한 포괄적인 이해와 적용이 어렵다. 전통적인 범주와 주제들은 여전히 이전의 영역을 고수하려는 반면, 새롭게 각광을 받는 주제들은 과거와의 단절을 통해 자신들의 학문적 정당성을 인정받으려는 자세를 보이는 경우도 빈번하다. 이렇게 단절된 신학의 구조는 신학 전체는 물론 각 부분들의 발전을 저해하는 부작용을 초래하면서 자칫 공멸할 수 있는 위기를 초래한다. 이런 측면에서 본 논문은 실천신학이 신학 내의 다른 범주의 연구와 분리해서는 존재할 수 없으며, 각자의 영역에 속한 주제들 역시 상호 간 밀접하고 역동적인 연관성을 유지해야 한다는 주장을 제시했다. 특히 신학 내부에 존재하는 초월과 내재, 본질과 실존, 그리고 이론과 현실 등의 이분법적 분리가 신학을 점점 무기력한 학문으로 전락시키는 상황을 리더십이란 매개를 통해서 회복하고자 하였다. 그러나 이런 의도는 리더십 자체가 모든 다른 신학을 살리는 만병통치약이란 뜻은 아니다. 다만 리더십을 실천신학의 영역에서 적절하게 다루기 위해 통합과 공존의 방법을 주장하였고, 그런 방법론의 전환이 신학 전반으로 확대되기를 기대하는 심정을 반영했다. 중세 이전의 유럽 사회에서 신학과 영성, 리더십 등은 다수의 사람들이 소유할 수 없는 배타적 특권이었다. 소수의 지식층이나 권력층들이 지식을 독점했고, 그들에 의해 배타적으로 소유된 지식은 자신들의 권력을 보호하는 강력한 무기였다. 하지만 시대의 변화에 따라 지식은 대중화되었고, 다수의 사람들이 지식의 습득을 자연스럽게 받아들인다. 그 결과, 사람들이 지닌 세계관이 확장되고 종교에 대한 인식도 급격히 변화되었다. 이제 교회와 특권계층으로부터 세속 사회로 주도권이 넘어간 지식은 그 지평을 현실 세계로 확장하여, 그 주체와 활동영역에서 과거와 다른 폭 넓게 발전하고 있다. 이런 역사의 급변은 당연히 신학에 대한 전반적인 이해에도 영향을 미쳤다. 신학의 본질 자체가 이론과 논리가 아닌 실존과 탐구로 전환되어, 신학의 방법론 자체도 일반인들의 평범한 삶을 전제하지 않고서는 상상할 수 없다. 독립과 분리에 근거하던 과거의 신학적 경향은 이제 그 토대를 상실했다. 신학으로서 정당성과 효율성을 인정받으려면 삼위일체 하나님을 사람들 한가운데서 발견하는 방식에 집중해야한다. 이 논문은 그런 작업을 리더십에 대한 연구를 통해서 진행했다. 하지만 그 과정에서 리더십을 구성하는 다양한 제목들을 세분화하거나, 여러 지침들을 생산하지는 않았다. 그보다는 실천신학의 과제로서 리더십이 영성과 신학 등과 더불어 지속적인 발전을 이루기를 기대하는 이론적 토대를 제공하는데 궁극적 목적을 두었다. 만일 이런 전제가 가능하지 않다면 실천신학이 리더십이나 영성에 대한 관심을 지녀야할 이유가 감소되기 때문에 본 논문은 리더십에 대한 더 많은 연구를 위해서 그와 같은 일관된 논리를 이어가는데 주력하였다.
