The number of students who attend college entrance examination in Mainland China has been in a downward trend since 2008. However, lots of public universities continue to enhance their enrollments and private universities apply a Large-Scale Development mode. Is it better to go for student quantity or specialty quality? It can be said that if there is no Large-Scale Development, there is no potential crisis. This paper investigates the new perspective of ‘Large-Scale development’, and tries to explore the potential crisis and relative solutions of Enrollment Quantity, Faculty Quality, Specialty Quality, Graduates Employment and Financial in the development of private universities in Mainland China. The study provides valid data in order to offer the basis for the decision-makers of educational administrative departments and private universities in Mainland China.

최근에 들어서며 중국 대륙의 대학 입시생은 해마다 줄어들고 있는 상황이지만 적지 않은 국공립대학에서는 신입생 정원을 늘리고 있고, 사립대학의 수 또한 급격히 증가하고 있는 추 세이다. 그리고 사립대학들은 교육 보조금과 같은 국가의 혜택이 거의 없기 때문에 자체 생존 의 필수적인 수단으로, 대부분 ‘규모화’라는 발전 모델을 취하고 있다. 양을 추구할 것인가, 아 니면 질을 추구할 것인가? ‘규모화’라는 양적인 성장을 고집하는 한 중국 대륙의 사립대학의 운영에 있어서 잠재적 위기가 존재하지 않는다고는 할 수 없을 것이다. 본고에서는 현재 중국 대륙의 사립대학의 ‘규모화’ 발전 현황을 토대로, 학생 모집, 교수진의 구성, 교수 질의 제고, 졸업생의 취업, 사립대학의 재무 등 측면의 잠재적 위기에 대해 논의하였고 관련 대책을 제시 하였다.
