The paper takes the structure of logical construction in NogajaeYeonhangilgi as the primary researching goal. The author suggests that the work can’t be considered as a simple diary, but a narration with integrity. Only in this way can we realize the intention and literary narrating ability of Nogajae. As the by-product of mission literature, the real meaning of this work can be comprehended only by considering the characteristic of times, essence of diplomacy and the outward manifestation between North Korea and Qing Dynasty. Meanwhile, only by analyzing personal elements of the author, such as growing environment, ideology, artistic aptitude and literary background synthetically, can we approach the literariness and ideological content of this work. Nogajae took maximum extending on narrative structure of diary pattern. He pursued unity of narrative pattern and literariness when he took the events or discoveries into his diary. This can be considered as the major features apart from the other Records of Ming and Qing Dynasty by Korean Diplomatic Corps. The private feature of Nogajea is to describe things by applying narrative ways of painting technique freely. It’s not a numerous and jumbled record, but left out some omission, and then did concentrated description on typical event. So the logical structure of the work is distinctive and coherent, which can give readers an integrated article. The whole five months’ diplomatic mission gave the author new humanistic originality, which became a humorous aesthetics then. The daily Chinese learned in the journey of diplomacy and vernacular Chinese learned in story-teller’s script are appropriately used any time in the work, which realized the correct communication and emotional exchange.

이 글은 󰡔老稼齋燕行日記󰡕가 갖고 있는 논리구조의 구축을 연구의 일차적인 목적으로 둔 다. 작품 내용을 단순한 일기로만 보는 것이 아니라, 하나의 유기체, 整然한 구성을 지닌 하나 의 서술물로 파악해야만 老稼齋의 本來 意圖와 文學的 記述 능력을 읽어낼 수 있다고 판단 한다. 이 작품은 사행외교의 부산물로서 조선과 청나라 간의 사행외교의 본질과 외적인 표현 형태, 작자가 처한 시대적 상황 등을 고려해야 그 내용을 정확히 이해할 수 있다. 동시에 작자 본인의 성장 환경, 사상의식, 예술적 취향, 문학적 본령 등 작가 개인적 요소를 종합적으로 분 석해야만 작품이 지닌 사상과 문학성을 규명할 수 있을 것이다. 老稼齋는 일기체의 순차적 敍事構造를 최대한으로 확장하여 그날그날의 견문을 일기에 담는 동시에 서사성과 문학성의 겸비를 꾀했다. 이것은 여타의 연행일기와 구별되는 老稼齋 연행일기의 중요한 특징이다. 老稼齋의 長技는 繪畵 手法에서 연유한 묘사적 기록방식을 事物 模寫에 自由自在로 적용한 것이다. 그는 보고 들은 모든 것을 잡다하게 기술한 것이 아니 라, 생략할 것을 생략하고, 전형적인 사건에 대해서는 많은 편폭을 할애하여 집중적 묘사를 가했다. 이것은 일기의 논리적 구조를 선명하게 함으로써 독자들로 하여금 한 편의 완전한 작 품으로 읽을 수 있도록 연관성을 확보해준다. 장장 5개월에 걸친 연행의 고락은 老稼齋의 인 간적 발견을 유발하여 그것을 해학과 유머의 미학으로 승화시켜 긴장과 이완을 교차시킨다. 연행과정에서 배운 일상 한어와 그 전에 白話體 話本小說을 통해 익힌 白話口語體 漢語를 적시적소에 활용하여 현장에서 대화의 분위기를 살리고 정확한 의사 소통과 감정 교류를 실 현하였다.
