This thesis intends to study the faces broken down, a transformed deformation and getting out of standard of beauty or a cannon in Kwon Jin Ky(1922-1973)u's some sculptures, with a theory of of Gilles Deleuze(1925-1995), a deconstruction of visage. The fact that he tries to overcome the representationalism through his own experimentation and uniqueness shows an esthetics of 'become'. The faciality(visagéité) hiding a conspiracy of making all kinds of faces identify, by getting rid of the differences among them. Kwon Jin Kyu creats not an ideal holy and beautiful face or nude but an unfamilliar one by deforming the figure and form. It means that he deconstructs a faciality, a standard of the same fixed western white face or a image of Christ, a universal symbolic system of identification in this society.

본 연구의 목적은 권진규의 인체조각과 두상작업에 나타난 얼굴의 지워짐과 형상의 붕괴를 들뢰즈의 ‘얼굴성’이론에서 설명되는 ‘얼굴 해체하기 defaire le visage’ 개념으로 고찰하는 것이다. 재현적 측면에 머무르지 않고 이를 극복하고자 한 권진규의 실험성과 독자성은 상투적인 것을 제거하는 생성의 미학을 보여준다. 권진규가 만들어 낸 건칠 두상과 석고 흉상의 얼굴은 식별하기 힘들고 쉽게 코드화 되지 않는 이질적 얼굴을 만들어 내고 있다. 이 작품들에서 보인 ‘얼굴 지우기’와 ‘형상의 해체’는 낯설고 우발적인 얼굴을 만들고 형상성과 정형성에서 벗어나고 있다. 또한 누드 조각은 남녀의 구분을 가늠하기 힘들고 이상화된 미에서 벗어난 몸을 만들어 내었다. 이점은 들뢰즈가 말하는 백인 그자체로 얼굴화 되는 것, 즉 강권적으로 인간화되는 것을 벗어나는 것이며 인체의 탈얼굴화를 이루어 낸 것이다.
