The purpose of this study was to use High-Speed Digital Imaging (HSDI) system to find out potential differences in vocal fold vibratory behaviors shown in the pronunciation of /i/ vowel between persons who stutter(PS) and persons who don't stutter(NS). To meet the above goal, this study adopted two subject groups, PS group(6 persons) and NS group(6 persons), and could come to the following findings: First, it was found that there were differences in glottal conditions between PS and NS group before pronouncing /i/ vowel. Secondly, it was found that there were differences in vocal fold vibratory behaviors upon pronouncing /i/ vowel between PS and NS group. summing up, it is concluded that stutterers show different glottal conditions from non-stutterers before pronunciation, and even the pronunciation of stutterers is characterized by irregular vocal fold vibrations, contrary to non-stutterers.

본 연구의 목적은 초고속 성대 촬영기를 이용하여 말더듬인과 정상인의 /이/모음 산출 시 성대진동 양상을 알아보기 위하여 실시하였다. 실험을 위하여 정상인 집단 6명, 말더듬인 집단 6명을 대상으로 하였다. 실험의 결과는 첫째, 말더듬인과 정상인의 /이/모음 발성 시 발성 전 성문양상의 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 말더듬인과 정상인의 /이/모음 발성 시 성대 접촉률의 차이가 있었다. 연구 결과들을 종합해 보면, 말더듬인들은 발성 이전 단계에서부터 정상인들과 차이가 있으며, 또한 발성 시 성대의 접촉률의 규칙성에도 차이가 있는 것으로 볼 수 있다. 이것은 말더듬인들의 치료 접근이 발성 단계에서부터 시작하여야 함을 의미하는 것이며, 정상적 발성의 형성을 통하여 구어적 단계로 이끄는 새로운 치료 방향을 제안할 수 있는 계기가 될 수 있을 것으로 보인다.
