The object of this study is to research the correlation between writing motivation and writing creativity of middle school students using the test tool of writing motivation and the test tool of writing creativity. It allows to verify the precedence study of the correlation between motivation and creativity. And by referring to notices on the sub-factors of writing motivation that can predict enough writing creativity, this study identify the fact that the value of writing motivation is so important.
What has this study founds are as follows.
First, the whole correlation coefficient between writing motivation and writing creativity is significant but, the count is lower than .4 that is scientifically meaningful count. The reason is that they have not a direct effect between writing motivation and writing creativity. In gender difference, they showed statistically significant correlation coefficient between the sub-factors of writing motivation and writing creativity except in the case of cooperative interaction. Creativity is making itself felt in personal characteristics. So the cooperative interaction don't help creative writing performance so much. In female student group, they can't showed statistically significant correlation coefficient between the competitive efforts and writing creativity. In a separate, male student group can't showed statistically significant correlation coefficient between the challenge and writing creativity. This whole gender differences have a proven the difference teaching method based gender factor of students.
Second, in the whole gender group and whole levels of writing motivation, they showed statistically significant correlation coefficient between the writing self-efficacy and writing creativity. Writing self-efficacy is a stable sub-factor that can predict enough writing creativity.
The finding of this study will help to solve the problem of writing motivation and writing creativity that neglected in school. This study is meaningful in that it comes to support reviewing the affective characteristics and creativity in writing and designing evaluation plan based on the field research for writing motivation as the content of writing education.

본 연구에서는 중학생을 대상으로 쓰기 동기 검사를 시행한 후 자기표현적 글쓰기 과제를 사용한 쓰기 창의성 측정을 통하여 쓰기 동기와 쓰기 창의성의 상관을 분석하였다. 이를 통하여 동기와 창의성의 상관에 관한 선행 연구의 결과가 쓰기 영역에도 적용될 수 있는지를 검증하고자 한다. 또한 쓰기 동기의 하위 요인 중 어떤 요인이 쓰기 창의성을 예측하는 데 안정된 요인으로 사용될 수 있는지를 확인함으로써 쓰기 교육에서 쓰기 동기의 중요성과 교육적 가치를 확인하고자 하였다.
본 연구를 통하여 다음과 같은 사실을 발견하였다.
첫째, 쓰기 동기와 쓰기 창의성의 상관관계를 분석한 결과, 통계적으로 유의미한 정적 상관을 보였지만 사회과학적으로 유의미하다고 판단하는 수치인 .4에는 못미쳤다. 이처럼 전반적으로 쓰기 동기와 쓰기 창의성의 상관이 .4를 넘지 못한 이유는 쓰기 동기 외에 쓰기 지식이나 쓰기 전략, 배경지식과 같은 요인들이 쓰기 창의성에 복합적으로 작용하고 있기 때문일 수도 있고, 쓰기 동기가 직접적으로 영향을 미치기 보다는 다양한 변인과의 관련성 속에서 간접적인 의미를 가지기 때문일 수도 있다. 그러나 동기와 창의성의 상관을 연구한 선행 연구들에 비하면 낮은 수치는 아니었으므로 본 연구의 결과도 충분히 유의미하다고 할 수 있다.
둘째, 쓰기 동기의 하위 요인 중 쓰기 효능감만 남녀 모두에서, 또한 모든 효능감 수준에서 쓰기 창의성과 유의미한 상관을 보였다. 이는 쓰기 효능감이 다른 동기 요인들에 비해서 쓰기 창의성을 예측할 수 있는 가장 대표적인 동기 요인임을 잘 보여주는 결과이다.
본 연구는 인지적 관심에 치우쳐 있는 쓰기 교육에 쓰기 동기나 쓰기 효능감 등 정의적 요인의 중요성을 강조하고 창의성을 실질적인 측면에서 교과와 통합하여 연구함으로써 쓰기 교육에서의 동기와 창의적 수행에 관한 연구에 기여하였다. 그리고 방법론적인 측면에서는 학생들의 쓰기 수행 과제를 통하여 쓰기 창의성을 측정할 수 있는 검사 도구를 만들어 실행하고 평가들 간의 높은 신뢰도가 있음을 보여 주었다는 의의가 있다.
