The purpose of this paper is a study on the correlation of nature element and expressive characteristics shown in western architecture, focused on the example in western architecture. 1. As a part of Anthropomorphism, the Vitruvius'theory between human body and architecture was executed by theoretical research of architecture that has been the best important subject to writer and architects of Rnaissance. And the diagram for the study of proportion of human body of Leonardo da Vinci was represented by geometrical proportion of human body as symbolical representation the idealized form of human and nature with geometrical figure of the circle and the square. 2. As a part of Zoomorphism, the basic concept of town planning in Renaissance period was planned regularly with geometric the form and internal composition of town from the description of town planning in the De Re Aedificatoria of Vitruvius. At that time, the castle and fortress architecture developed for military purposes, such the basic form was composed with plans for town planning and fortress of the turtle form and fortress of the crab form as representation of reappearance from Zoomorphism. 3. As a part of Fitomorphism, the Fitomorphism of Renaissance was composed of not only architecture of Roman architecture, but also sculpture, relief, plaster work and mural painting. At that time, many architects were used by many decorative element for the interior or exterior of buildings as the church, the palace, the villa and the gallery through realistic description.

자연은 고대 그리스시대부터 발견되어지고 응용되어진 기하학과 비례체계의 법칙을 이미 갖추고 있었지만, 르네상스시대에 자연에 대한 새로운 탐구를 위해 재개되었다. 따라서 자연요소는 형상화할 수 있는 대상으로 여기면서 자연의 탐구에 의한 사실성을 통해 자연형태에 대한 사실적 묘사와 재현적 표현 그리고 상징적 표현에서 이루어졌다. 이러한 표현체계는 의인화와 동물도형과 식물도형을 통해 자연요소가운데 가장 완전한 인간의 형상에 대한 해석과 표현, 자연요소에서 내재된 기하학과 비례체계에 대한 표현, 자연요소에서 나타난 조화와 균형 있는 표현으로서 건축에서의 구성체계와 요소에서 형성되어졌다.
