This study focuses on investigating the preference of notable paintings and the reason for that preference by various subjects, and on comparing characteristics between each subject. Through these information, measures for using notable painting art therapy in clinical practice were examined. 50 persons from groups of children with mental disorders, adults with mental disorders, elderly people with dementia, parents of children with disabilities, and mothers after childbirth in institutes located in the Seoul and Gyeonggi region, and from groups of normal children, normal adolescents, normal male and female adults living in the Seoul and Gyeonggi region were investigated, respectively, being 400 persons in total. Notable painting appreciation and questionnaires were held among subjects from March 2010 to April 30, 2010. Collected questionnaires were used as study materials. The preference for notable paintings and the reason for preference in collected questionnaires were compared by percentage (%). Study results indicated that there was a characteristic difference in notable painting preferences by each subject, and both differences and similarities in reasons for preference could be observed. This would facilitate access by using characteristics in preferred notable paintings and reason for that preference of each subject in actual clinical art therapy practice, and raise the effects of art therapy.

본 연구는 서양 명화를 제시하여 특정 환자군 및 일반군과 기타 대상군의 명화 선호도를 조사하여 비교하고, 각 대상별 특징적인 선호사유를 분석함으로써 명화 미술치료의 좀 더 객관적이고 세분화 된 근거를 마련하여 다양한 임상적 활용방안을 모색하고자 하는 연구이다. 이를 위해 서울, 경기 지역에 위치한 M병원 소아정신과, K병원 정신병동, Y병원 정신병동, S노인복지관에서 소아정신장애, 성인정신장애, 치매 노인과 서울, 경기 지역에 거주하는 일반 아동, 일반 청소년, 일반 성인남녀 및 I발달센터, C병원 산후조리원에서 장애아동의 부모, 산모를 각각 50명 씩 조사하여 총 400명의 자료를 수집하였다. 연구도구는 명화 14점과 설문지를 사용하였고, 수집된 설문지를 통해 대상별 명화 선호도와 선호사유를 분석한 결과는 다양한 대상의 명화선호도에 특징적인 차이 및 선호사유의 공통점과 차이점을 비교하여 볼 수 있었다는 점에 의의를 지닌다. 또한 실제 미술치료 임상현장에서 각 대상이 선호하는 명화와 선호사유의 특성을 이용하여 접근을 용이하게 하고, 미술치료의 효과를 높일 수 있을 것이다.
