The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of private investment in the creation of art and cultural activities. In modern society, the contribution of cultural industry in the economy has increased so much that it is now considered as one of major economic sectors. As a result, support by private sector for cultural and artistic activities, and investment by private sector for cultural industry are also increasing. The main content of this paper is as follows. First, strategies to increase private sector investment in the cultural industries of South Korea are examined. Specifically, companies' entry to the cultural industry, arts and cultural funds, social enterprises in the cultural industry, and development of cultural resources are examined. Secondly, support for private investment of government are covered. Specifically, support for creating private investment funds, private investment in the facility to promote cultural business, and cultural-industry specialized companies are studied. Third, systems that can expand the private investment are examined. Finally, challenges for the expansion of private investment are discussed. Korean cultural industry, namely online games and K-POP, is expected to contribute to the increase in gross domestic product. As a result, there are now various support programs for such an industry, but there is still a room for improvements to be made.

이 논문의 목적은 문화예술 창조에 있어서 민간투자의 확대 방안을 연구하는 것이다. 현대 사회에서 문화산업은 경제분야로 간주될 정도로 경제적 비중이 확대되고 있다. 이에 따라 민간의 문화예술 활동에 대한 지원뿐만 아니라, 문화예술에 대한 민간투자도 증가하고 있다.
본고는 첫째, 우리나라에서 기업의 문화예술 지출 중 문화산업 진출, 문화예술 투자 등 수익창출을 목적으로 하는 민간투자의 확대방안을 살펴보았다. 구체적으로 기업의 문화예술 산업 진출, 문화예술 투자펀드, 문화산업의 사회적기업, 문화자원개발 등에 대해 정리하였다. 둘째, 문화예술에 대한 민간투자 확대를 위한 지원에 대해 살펴 보았다. 구체적으로 모태펀드를 통한 민간투자펀드 조성 지원, 민간의 시설투자를 촉진하는 임대형 민간투자사업, 문화산업 전문회사, 예술지원 매칭펀드에 대해 정리하였다. 셋째, 향후 문화예술의 발전에 공헌이 기대되는 민간투자를 확대할 수 있는 제도 등을 살펴보았다.
마지막으로, 민간투자의 확대를 위한 과제에 대해서 논의하였다. 온라인게임과 K-POP 등 우리나라의 문화산업은 고부가가치 융복합 산업의 핵심으로 국내총생산 기여 및 국가 경쟁력 제고에 기여할 것으로 전망되고 있다. 이에 따라 다양한 지원책이 마련되어 있지만 아직 개선할 여지가 많다고 본다.
