Recently, the evils from a mental disease are reaching alarming rates, and it causes huge socioeconomic losses. Therefore, this paper proposes new methods to diagnose and treat the mental disease properly by use of handheld communication devices such as smart-phone and provides efficient way to minimize damage from the psychological disorders with the help of emotional communications in the end. Firstly, the smart-phone is equipped with multiple sensors and application programs in order to detect the depression. Secondly, smart-phone gives proper emotional responses or services depending on seriousness of mental illness. In this paper, we calculate the degree of depression quantitatively and classify them into three classes according to depression index measured. Finally, the paper introduces emotional communication services which can give adequate emotional response and help the patent overcome mental diseases.

최근 우울증 등의 주요 정신질환에 의한 폐해들이 위험수위에 도달해 있으며 이로 인한 사회·경제적 손실 또한 막대한 것이 사실이다. 본 연구는 널리 보급된 이동통신 단말기를 이용하여 주요 정신질환을 진단하고 그 치료 기능을 탑재하여, 사용자로 하여금 정신질환의 위험을 미리 알려 대비하게하며 지인과 전문기관의 도움으로 피해를 최소화하는 방안을 제공하고자 한다. 먼저 이동 통신 단말기에 주요 정신질환인 우울증을 검출할 수 있는 어플리케이션 프로그램과 센서를 장착하고, 검출된 질환의 심각성 정도에 따라 적절한 감성반응 서비스를 제공함으로써 인간적인 유대감을 느끼게 하여 극단적인 선택을 방지할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 우울증의 정도를 정량적으로 계산하여 임계치에 따라 분류하고, 그 위험정도에 따라 적절한 감성반응을 제공함으로써 우울증을 극복할 수 있는 방안에 대해서 제안하고 미래 감성통신서비스에 대한 실현가능성을 전망해 보고자 한다.
