This study aimed to prepare a program and produce data that can reconstitute itself in elementary art curriculum in which students can experience the practical value and the beauty of Onggi. Additionally to increase understanding of its merit, variety and traditional culture through Onggi miniature for education and clay use as they contribute to modeling abilities exert their educational effect. Firstly, by looking at Onggis variety and types according to features and their production procedures the study aims to yield understanding and reach its educational goal and necessity. Secondly, appreciating the merits of Onggi the study classifies Onggi according to use, shape allowing students to work on Onggi design program. Thirdly, there were teaching plans for each steps of the program. This study reveals its following effects of improvement and anticipation of elementary art education. Firstly, Onggi miniature for education provided students with opportunity to learn about Onggi types, shape according to use and its artistic value. Secondly, the study found that there were increasing concerns and importance of traditional art consequently providing the basis for new culture nourished by ancestral wisdom. The study aims to contribute to elementary art education of Ulsan province through traditional Onggi however also serves as a creative tool based on traditional art and culture to develop improved elementary art education as tradition blended with local culture of Onggi, the study’s approach towards life would be smoothened and stabilized of the culture of sentiments. Moreover there would be future connections between the curriculum and afterschool education in that would partake in lifelong education and ultimately applied to educations of that students, teachers, parents and local communities the resulting in considerable educational effect.

본 연구의 목적은 초등학교의 미술과 교육과정 안에서 재구성이 가능한 도예교육 프로그램을 구안하고 자료를 개발하여 학생들로 하여금 옹기의 실용성과 옹기의 아름다움을 직접 체험시키고자 하는데 있다. 아울러 옹기의 우수성과 다양성 그리고 예술성 및 전통 문화에 대한 이해를 높이고, 교육용 옹기 모형을 통하여 점토의 교육적 효과를 얻고, 학생들의 입체 조형적 감각능력을 향상시키고자 한다. 이러한 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위한 연구의 내용은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 옹기의 특징, 제작 과정 및 쓰임새에 따른 다양한 형태와 종류를 살펴본 후 옹기이해 교육의 정의 및 필요성에 대하여 살펴보았다. 둘째, 옹기의 우수성을 알아보며 다양한 옹기를 용도별로 분류하고, 쓰임새에 따른 형태를 인식하여 학생들이 자신만의 옹기를 디자인해 보는 프로그램을 구안하였다. 셋째, 단계별 프로그램에 따라 교수·학습 지도안을 작성하여 실제 수업에 적용하였다. 본 연구를 통하여 얻을 수 있는 초등미술교육에서의 발전적 결과와 기대효과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교육용 옹기 모형을 통한 옹기이해교육 프로그램 적용의 결과 학생들이 옹기의 종류, 용도별 쓰임새에 따른 형태의 특징, 옹기의 과학성과 예술성을 학습할 수 있는 계기가 되었다. 둘째, 전통미술에 대한 관심이 증가하고 중요성을 인식하게 되었으며, 조상들의 슬기와 지혜 그리고 아름다움을 바탕으로 새로운 문화를 창조할 수 있는 발판이 마련되었다. 본 연구는 울산 지역의 우수한 지역문화인 옹기를 통하여 울산 지역의 초등학생들의 생활 속의 미술교육에 이바지하기 위한 프로그램과 자료의 개발에 관한 연구이지만 우리 전통 문화와 예술의 우수성을 바탕으로 창의성을 계발하기 위한 초등 미술교육의 일반적 접근으로서의 가치를 지니고 있다. 전통과 어우러진 지역문화인 옹기에 대한 자연스러운 접근은 우리의 실생활을 더욱 윤택하게 할 뿐 아니라 정서적 안정감을 가져다 줄 것이다. 또한 이 지도 방안과 연계된 추후 지도 활동은 방과 후 활동 및, 평생교육의 일환으로 학생들뿐 아니라 교사 및 학부모 교육, 지역사회 교육에도 적용할 수 있어서 그 교육적 효과는 매우 클 것 이라 여겨진다.
