A Study on Culture-led Urban Regeneration of Declination Industrial district in Shanghai, China

Historically, the city is a product of modernization and industrialization, and has been played as tow truck propelling and leading it. However, efficiency and the space development of functionality-oriented have been promoted by the growth and the development-oriented economism in the industrial era. As a result, the city was a survival space for living rather than a pleasant space. To solve these problems, diverse attempts have been conducted.
In addition, more than 20 years ago already Elvin Toffler futurist mentioned about the importance of culture, the culture with the environment occupied big part of 21st century space ecopolicy. The importance of this culture, contents of 'culture' we called utilizing urban renewal policies are actively taking place in the world. The urban renewal policy actively took place through cultural specialization of these facilities from 1970-80's in Western countries. Declination industrial district recycle policies of culture-led are promoting but it is lack of a clear methodology in Korea.
Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest a basic data to use through analysis on methods appeared on successful examples of Shanghai where it achieved culture-led urban regeneration with declination industrial district.
