From Korean Baduk terminology, the terms translated from Japanese words have been changed into Korean words since the liberation. Now, it can be said with 100% certainty that there is no one word articulated in Japanese pronunciation. This situation in Baduk is outstanding compared to other fields such as not only architecture, hair-makeup, sewing, printing, cooking where the Japanese pronunciation is used but also medical science, law where the Japanese translation has been eliminated but the Japan-origin Chinese words are still used. However, this paper is issuing the problem of Korean Baduk terms originated from Japanese terms. Because, the terms translated from Japanese words are hard to understand even for the professional Baduk players, or give unpleasant feelings to the people not used to them owing to wrong translation or usage of the terms. This study will suggest better usage and give better understanding of Korean Baduk terms and also help the following studies about Japanese/Chinese origin Baduk terms.

우리 바둑용어에서 일본어는 광복 후 꾸준히 청산되어 왔으며 현재는 최소한 일본식 발음으
로 읽히는 용어는 단 한 가지도 없다. 이는 건축, 미용, 양재, 인쇄, 요리 등 현재에도 일본식 발음의 단어들이 그대로 사용되고 있는 분야는 물론, 의학, 법률, 과학 등 일본식 발음의 단어들은 사라졌으나 여전히 일본식 조어로 된 한자어를 많이 사용하고 있는 학문분야와 비교해볼 때 그 의의가 상당하다. 그럼에도 불구하고 본 연구는 일본어에서 번역되어 우리말화한 바둑용어를 문제 삼는다. 일본어에서 번역된 바둑용어가 그 번역 자체의 문제, 혹은 이후 사용에 있어서의 문제 등으로 인해 일반인들은 물론 전문가들조차도 그 정확한 의미와 용법을 알기 힘들게 되었거나, 혹은 전문가들은 거리낌 없이 사용하지만 일반인들에게는 거부감을 주는 단어와 표현이 된 경우가 여전히 잔존하기 때문이다. 이와 같은 연구가 그 자체로 바둑용어에 대한 이해의 깊이를 심화하는 측면과 더불어, 한자어로 된 바둑용어에 대한 연구나 우리말 용어에 대한 연구, 그리고 다른 분야의 전문용어들이 어떻게 발전하였고 어떻게 정비되었는지에 대한 사례연구 등의 보다 큰 틀의 연구의 준비작업으로서 의의를 갖기를 기대해 본다.
