This paper studies on the meditation practice from the healing perspective due to the fact that the ‘Tao psychotherapy’ in Korean culture seems to be similar to the meditative healing. The term meditation is used for both religions for Buddhist meditation including Zen, Vipassana, and mindfulness as well as meditation and contemplation in Christianity, because there are too many forms of meditations. In order to speculate the psychological movement in a meditator, it analyzes the understanding of the unconscious of depth psychology in Freud and in Jung, because they believe the existence of ego and unconsciousness are separate. However, it also examines the understanding of the meditation psychology, for it does not see the two psychic structures divided. This studies the process of transformation in the inner dimension of the meditator from the phenomenological perspective. It articulates on the healing effect through the meditation practice, on the inner reflection of the therapist, and on the quality of relationship between the therapist and client. The practice of meditation turns out to be the effective tool for the psychological healing and health.

본 논문은 한국 문화 전통에서 자라난 ‘도정신치료’가 명상치유와 유사성이 있어 보이는 계기로 명상수련을 치유적 시각에서 분석하였다. 이 논문에서 사용하는 명상이란 용어는 현상적 형태가 너무 다양하여 불교의 선, 위빠사나, 마음챙김의 명상들과 그리스도교의 명상과 관상기도를 통칭하는 용어로 사용한다. 명상의 심리학적 움직임의 비교 이해를 위해 심층심리학자인 프로이트와 융이 이해하는 별도의 의식과 무의식이 존재한다고 보는 견해를 분석하였다. 그러나, 심층심리학자와는 다르게 명상가들은 의식이 별도로 존재한다고 보지 않는 명상의 의식이해를 비교 연구하였다. 또한 명상을 통해 일어나는 내면 변화의 과정과 의미를 현상학적 시각에서 분석하였다. 그리고 명상 수련을 통해서 야기되는 치유 효과에 대해서 명상자의 심리내적 영역에서, 상담자의 내면 성찰과 관리를 위해서, 상담자와 내담자와의 관계의 질의 측면에서 고찰하였다. 결론적으로 명상 수련은 상담자는 물론 내담자에게도 효과적인 심리내적 치유와 건강을 위해 효과적인 도구임을 확인하였다.
