Animal Right and Non-anthropocentric Bioethics
초록
영어
We occasionally meet the view that the boundary of ethics should be widened over the human world. It is perhaps animals that we primarily consider in this new era ethics. There are various perspectives in the way how we should treat animals. The most well-known contemporary views are that of rationalist, sentientist and inherentist. However, these views have limitations when we consider them from the reinterpretation of Kantian ethics. Those include problems of anthropocentric premise and dichotomous way of thinking. There are alternative standpoints in the ethics of Gandhi's 'Respect for Life' and Schopenhauer's 'Sympathy'. Furthermore, a plausible alternative of a new non- anthropocentric ethics could be found in the Buddhist bioethics, with its profound metaphysical ground.
