This study tried to research the meaning of young children's body play through qualitative study acknowledging young children as a body existence. 19 young children in K class of public kindergarten in G city participated in this research through interview and participation observation. As a result of this study, young children had fun with various body play by trying to touch peers or making a funny face and so on. The meaning of these body plays are such as embarrassment, expressing nature of play, transferring realistic meaning, humor to others, resisting against regulation, controls and so on. The result of this study shows that teachers should recognize the meaning of young children's body play and cope with it.

본 연구는 몸적 존재로서의 유아를 인정하면서 유아들이 보여주는 몸 유희의 의미를 질적 연구를 통해 알아보고자 하였다. 연구 참여자는 G시의 공립병설 유치원인 O유치원의 K반 유아 19명으로 참여관찰과 면담을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 본 연구결과 유아들은 신체 일부분을 일그러뜨리며 우스꽝스러운 표정과 모습을 만들거나 다양한 몸동작 및 몸을 이용해 또래에게 접촉을 시도하는 것 등 다양한 몸 유희를 즐기고 있었다. 유아들이 보여주는 이러한 몸 유희의 의미는 유희적 본성의 표출, 사실적 의미전달, 타인을 향한 유머, 무안함의 긍정적 극복, 규율과 통제에 대한 저항을 의미하였다. 본 연구결과는 유아교실에서 유아들이 보여주는 몸 유희에 대해 교사가 그 의미를 읽고 적절하게 대처해야 함을 시사한다.
