Golf is one of the most popular sport in the world and has been dominating by US since the early twentieth century. Many researchers have agreed with that the birthplace of golf is St. Andrews in Scotland but this opinion is yet to be confirmed more scientifically in the near future. Even though the origin of golf is not cleared from where, the shape of modern golf game had been developed in US. This study examined the foundations of relevant organizations in US golf history and how the media celebrated Ouimet's achievements and that influenced on american people in golf. Also why he was considered as a first american hero in golf in the United States. This development in both interest and participation in golf is significant since the golf only took hold in US over a century ago. In December 1894, the first organization which controlled the golf game concerning the amateur and open championship of the United States established. It was named by the Amateur Golf Association of the United States first but later renamed as the United States Golf Association(USGA) finally. Francis Ouimet the first american US Open champion as an amateur in 1913. The biggest boom to golf came from when Ouimet, a 20 years old young Bostonian and the former caddy, won the 1913 US Open. After he won the US Open championship many american people get interested and participated in golf. Also many golf courses not only private golf clubs but public golf clubs were built and the number of golf clubs became tripled after 10 years in US.
