This study analyzed drainage type system for sports field and golf course. Drainage type system is important for growth of cool-season turfgrass during summer heavy rain season in Korea. Drainage material of tree type were analyzed. 1. Drainage type system for turfgrass rootzone are perforated circle type pipe, belt type pipe, perforated panel type pipe. Perforated circle type pipe have a circle hole on the girth of pipe with 75~100 mm diameter. Belt type pipe(Drain belt) is a thin strip of flexible pvc in the shape of a belt(thick 2 mm × width 200 mm), with a series of grooves and channels evenly distributed through the body of the belt and open for water collection on the underside. Perforated panel type pipe have a thin and tetragonal hole on the surface of pipe with 38 mm thick × 300 mm width. 2. Drainage principle of perforated circle type pipe and perforated panel type pipe use gravitational water in soil. However belt type pipe is designed to separate the soil particles from the water in the same way as nature using capillary water, surface tension and syphon in soil. 3. Advantage of belt type pipe can collect effectively more water than others without clogging or crushing. Water drainage rate of it is almost 2 to 7 times as fast because it has a lot of hole per square meter(hole area 0.041/m2). 4. Belt type pipe can be installed along curve of ditch and undulation of soil. It can reduce the cost because it establish without gravel and special treatment layer and don't need to dig deeply than perforated circle type pipe.
