The Heroism closed up as the practical ideology which cleared up the problems of the enlightened period. The Heroism of the poetry in that period showed the allusion of heroes and sages of the world. Poetry made the allusion of heroes as an alternative idea of the methods which surmount the problem of that period through the acception of wisdom and intrepidity. The allusion of political heroes were apposed to the armament line and the allusion of sages to the culture line. Poetry accommodated the allusion of proverb and maxim for the solidification of satire and critical contents. The allusion of proverb was a poetic strategy for the improvement of popular conversion through the popular discourse. The conventional expression is the rhetoric which accommates common phrases or idioms of everday life. The conventional expression pulled down the boundry between the everyday discourse and the poetic discourse. It ran after the empathy and communication between the speaker and the listener. The Allusion and the convention expression were the poetic strategy of the solidification of instruction as instructive poetry. Conclusively the allusion and the conventional expression were not the rhetoric of literary aesthetics but of illuminating aesthetics.

개화기의 시대적 과제를 해결하기 위해 등장한 실천이념의 하나가 영웅주의였다. 시가에서 는 동서양의 시대적 영웅과 성현들의 전고의 형태로 나타났다. 개화기 시가는 동서양의 영웅 제현들의 지혜와 용맹을 전고의 형식으로 수용하여 시대상황을 극복하는 대안으로 삼고자 했 던 것이다. 정치적 인물이나 전쟁영웅의 전고는 무투(武鬪)의 투쟁노선에. 문인이나 성현의 전고는 문투(文鬪)의 투쟁노선에 대응된다. 속담이나 격언의 차용은 풍자적이고 비판적인 내용을 강화하기 위해 수용된 것이다. 민중 들에게 익숙한 담론을 끌어들여 대중적 감화력을 제고하기 위한 시적 전략으로 볼 수 있다. 속담 및 격언의 인유는 대중적 전파력 강화를 위한 시적 장치였다. 관습적 수사(conventional expression)는 일상담화에서 관용구처럼 쓰인 비유들을 그대로 시 속으로 끌어들이는 기법이다. 관습적 수사는 일상 담론과 시적 담론 사이에 경계를 무너뜨 리고, 화자와 청자 사이의 감정이입과 의사소통을 위한 방략이라고 볼 수 있다. 독자와의 담론 의 용이성과 편의성, 의사소통의 효율성, 삶의 체험을 직접 담아내는 현장성 등이 관습적 수사 의 특징으로 볼 수 있다. 이러한 특징과 속성이 개화기 시가에서 수사학적 장치로 적극 활용 되었다. 인유의 기법이나, 관습적 수사는 계몽시가의 교시성 제고를 위한 시적 전략이었던 것으로 간주된다. 다시 말해 문예미학적인 차원에서의 수사학이 아니라, 계몽문학적 차원에서의 수사 학이었던 것이다.
