Recently, preservation and utilization of industrial heritage has become more active in advanced countries. Conservation program of modern cultural heritage in Korea has been started in earnest since registered cultural properties was enacted in 2001. But, industrial heritage has been changed and destroyed gradually by the renovation and demolition due to urban development. Naju Jamsa as a industrial heritage of Naju city, the case study considered here, has been neglected by the public since the early 1990s. But, it is worth preserving and utilizing because the historic and cultural resources of Naju city The purpose of this paper is to examine the architectural characteristics of Naju Jamsa Inc. by actual survey, and to suggest applications of industrial heritage from the point of view of urban tourism by analyzing successful example of reusing industrial heritage, which has historic and cultural resources.

최근 산업유산을 보존ㆍ활용하려는 움직임이 세계선진도시를 중심으로 일어나고 있으며, 우리나라에서도 등록문화재제도 등을 활용하여 산업유산을 보존하려는 움직임이 활발히 일어나고 있는 추세이다. 하지만 문화재로 지정되지 않는 산업유산 중에는 문화재로서의 가치는 낮으나 지역산업과 깊은 관련이 있는 시설로서 지역자산으로서의 가치와 활용 잠재력을 가지고 있는 시설들이 많이 남아 있다. 이러한 건조물이나 시설들은 도시에 방치되어 황폐화되어가고 있는 경우도 적지 않다. 본 연구는 나주잠사주식회사를 대상으로 먼저, 건물의 현황을 파악하여 보존ㆍ활용 시에 필요한 기초자료를 만드는 것을 목적으로 하며, 산업유산 활용사례를 Urban tourism 관점에서 분석하고, 그 결과를 토대로 하여 나주잠사 활용방안을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다.
