This article aims to examine the real state and direction developing a liberal education curriculum for the convergent knowledge education that leads the consilience between sciences in the knowledge information age. Further, This article presents its advisable models that the liberal education in university can apply to the development of curriculum for the convergent education. Today, the convergent and integral education in university became a indispensable task not only in a major field of study, but only in a liberal eduction. A liberal education in university which takes on not only task to form the base for a major education, but also have to develop the basic curriculum corresponding to the convergent and integral education, must also reflect its role again and find its advancement appropriating a demand of our information society and a actual situation of our university. The development of the curriculum have to fulfill a important principle that the main aim of the development is that students can learn the capacity of the consilience totally to understand things and problem situations and get ready a creative capacity to solve the given problems. In addition, the development of the curriculum have to correspond to the essential role of a liberal education. The curriculum must be managed to not only as a foundation for a convergent major education, but also for the personality education of a creative person that have the total point of view and the consilient capacity. I think, the Aureum model that can fulfill this conditions will become a alternative one which a liberal education can follow for the convergent curriculum desirably. The ‘Aureum model’ is a concept model that the Hanyang university developed for the educational course of the convergent education. I think, this model will contribute to improve the basic communicational capacity of students and play a role not only as a foundation for the convergent and integral major education, but also as a basic model for the development of a curriculum to teach the convergent knowledge.

국문초록본 연구는 학문간 통섭을 강조하는 지식융합 교육을 위한 교양교과목 개발의 실태와 방향을 고찰하는 것이다. 지식 융합 교육은 전공영역에서 뿐만 아니라 교양영역에서도 선택이 아닌 필수의 과제가 되었다. 그 과제는 교양교육의 본연의 역할과 시대적-현실적 요구에 충실할 수 있는 교양교과목을 개발하고 운영하는 일이다. 이것을 위해 본 연구는 지식융합 교육을 위한 교양교과목 개발의 실태를 파악하고자 하였고, 실행되고 있는 기본모델을 제시할 뿐만 아니라, 하나의 모범이 될 수 있는 대안모델을 소개하고자 하였다.
