The purpose of this paper is mainly to analyze the determinants for green innovation activities in Korean manufacturing firms and then to classify their behaviors by intrinsic characteristics. The empirical results are as follows. Firstly a green innovation activity is closely related with to the capability on a general innovation. In particular, the higher degree in a general innovation is, the greater the positive effect of a general innovation on a green innovation activity is. Secondly, the factors classified as obstacles for a green innovation activity does not effect on the activity significantly. It appears that two different effects – an effective hurdle effect and a motive effect to overcome them. Thirdly, an environmental regulation takes a significant motivational role in increasing a green innovation activity in general. However, it does not work in medium-small firms. Fourthly, the support policy from government is a significant tool to raise a green innovation activity except in medium-small firms and/or in relatively low degree in a green innovation. On the other hand, a short-term support such as investment, consumption, and other managerial aids is relatively effective tool to increase green innovation activities for them.

본 연구의 목적은 제조업의 녹색혁신활동의 결정요인을 정책변수를 중심으로 분석하여 기업 특성별 차이를 분류하는 것이다. 첫째, 녹색혁신활동은 모두 공통적으로 기업의 일반적인 혁신역량과 밀접한 관련이 있었다. 특히 고 녹색혁신활동기업군일수록 일반혁신활동의 녹색혁신활동 증대효과가 더욱 크게 나타났다. 둘째, 장애요인은 전반적으로 비유의적이었는데 이는 장애요인을 인지하고 극복하려는 기업의 노력도 반영되어 장애요인 뿐 아니라 새로운 기회요인의 효과가 혼재한 때문으로 보인다. 셋째, 규제는 전반적으로 기업의 녹색혁신활동을 자극하는 동기로 사용될 수는 있지만, 이를 체감하지 못하는 저 녹색혁신 중소기업에 있어서는 작용하지 않았다. 넷째, 정책지원은 (중소, 저 녹색혁신활동)기업군을 제외하고 대체로 녹색혁신활동에 유의적인 정(+)의 영향을 주었는데, 특히 대기업 또는 고 녹색혁신활동기업군의 경우 일반적인 정책지원 뿐 아니라 장기적인 관점의 정책지원인 클러스터 조성지원이 유의적으로 녹색혁신활동을 증대시키는 것으로 나타난다. 그러나 중소 또는 저 녹색혁신활동 기업군에서는 주로 경영지원 투자지원, 소비지원과 같은 단기적인 정책지원이 녹색혁신활동 증대에 상대적으로 중요하였다.
