Sun-sin Yi and Genghis Khan are considered to be the greatest General in history. Becuase General Sun-sin Yi fought battles on the sea and Genghis Khan fought battles on land, the strategies and the way to fight were. somewhat different. However, their basic strategy was lean organization management based on the results of SWOT analysis. The mission of General Sun-sin Yi's Armada was to defend against an enemy attack, and Genghis Khan's Rough Riders were to conquer other countries. Due to the different military purpose and tasks, their military management strategy and logistics were not same. However, their basic strategies were the same. First, they made the best use of strengths after SWOT analysis. Second, they exactly analyzed enemies’ situations and their pros and cons. Third, they operated the speedy military with minimum resources. Both General Sun-sin Yi and Genghis Khan achieved the maximum effect in combat with the above strategies. Under the deepening resource depletion and global competition, if business organizations in Korea as a resource-poor nation analyze their and competitors’ pros and cons, and use lean management, as General Sun-sin Yi and Genghis Khan did, they will always win in the global competitive markets.

이순신 장군과 징기스 칸은 세계 역사상 가장 위대한 명장들이다. 이순신 장군은 해상에서 징기스 칸은 육지에서 전투를 하였기 때문에 전략과 전투방법은 좀 달랐지만 기본 전략은 SWOT 분석 결과를 기초로 한 lean organization 경영전략이었다. 이순신 장군의 함대는 자국의 바다에서 적의 침공을 방어하는 임무였고 징기스 칸의 기병대는 다른 나라를 정벌하는 원정 부대였다. 군대의 목적과 임무가 달랐기에 군대 경영전략도 부대 공급 방법도 어느 정도 달랐다. 그러나 전략의 기본은 같았다. 첫째 조직의 장점 및 단점을 정확히 분석한 후 장점을 최대한 활용하였다. 둘째 적의 정세와 강점 및 약점을 정확하게 파악하였다. 셋째 최소의 자원으로 스피드 한 군대를 운영하였다. 위와 같은 전략으로 최소의 자원을 가지고 최대의 전투 효과를 달성한 것이다. 심화되는 자원고갈과 글로벌 경쟁하에서 자원빈국의 한국 기업 조직들이 이순신 장군과 징기스 칸과 같은 방법으로 我조직은 물론 경쟁조직의 장단점을 정확히 분석하여 최소의 자원으로 lean organization 경영을 한다면 글로벌 경쟁 시장에서 항상 승리할 것이다.
