The purpose of this study is two-fold. The first is to investigate the impact of Korea-US FTA on economic structure and industrial sector in Chungcheong province. The second is to analyze the corresponding strategies of economic structure and industrial sector for Korea-America FTA, and to derive a constructive view. The result from the impact analysis on the economic structure and industrial sector of Chungcheong province with regard to Korea-US FTA showed that Secondary Industry would have strengths and opportunities factors, while First Industry and Third Industry would have weaknesses and opportunities factors. Local governments in Chungcheong need to organize a policy team who can connect and collect the opinions of local government, industrial sector, research institute, and consumer. For Second Industry, financial supports should be provided to small and midium businesses within the local government's budget. For First Industry, promoting policies for each item to raise international competitiveness should be prepared and a strategy to diversify exporting countries for agricultural goods is needed. As for Third Industry, the laws and system of local government should be changed to create a competitive market environment in domestic markets.

본 연구는 다음 두 가지 목적을 가지고 연구되었다. 첫째, 한-미 FTA가 충청지역경제에 어떤 영향을 가져 올 것인가를 분석하는 것이다. 둘째, 한-미 FTA체결에 따른 지역경제의 대응전략을 찾아보는 이다.
본 연구의 분석결과는 한-미 FTA와 관련하여 충청지역의 경제구조와 산업구조의 강점-기회요인은 2차 산업으로 나타났다. 반면 약점-위협요인은 1차 산업이고 약점-기회요인으로는 1차 산업과 3차 산업으로 분석되었다. 청지역 자치단체가 한-미 FTA에 대응 전략으로 가장 시급한 것은 지자체-산업-연구소-소비자를 나로 연결할 수 있는 커뮤니티 구축이다. 2차 산업부분을 위해서는 중소기업을 위한 지방자치단체의 예산범위 내에서 필요비용을 지원하는 전략을 마련해야 할 것이다. 1차 산업을 위해서는 경쟁력 제고를 위한 품목별 육성전략이 적극 추진되어야 하고, 농산물 수출지역을 다변화하는 전략이 또한 필요하다. 그리고 3차 산업과 관련하여 자치단체의 관련제도 개선을 통하여 국내 시장에서의 경쟁적 시장
환경을 조성하는 전략이 필요하다.
