Located on an important strategic point for protecting peace and prosperity in Northeast Asian region, Mongolia is the world 10th resource-rich country, and has a high mutual and complementary relation with Korea. It is needed that Korea should strengthen development partnership at the initial stage of economic development by intensifying the support of ODA through which the expansion of knowledge and human resource exchange project can be made, and in particular through the transfer of knowledge, the economic development of Mongolia can be beneficial, and moreover we can accumulate similar experiences in preparation of reform and open door policy of North Korea. Therefore, Korea should make overseas investment to Mongolia for achieving active economic cooperation, which could strengthen the position and role of Korea in the area of economic development of Northeast region which has been recently under in-dept discussion.

동북아지역의 평화와 번영을 위한 중요한 전략적 요충지에 자리 잡고 있는 국가인 몽골은 세계 10대 자원부국이며 한국과는 상호 보완성이 매우 높은 나라이다. 한국은 ODA지원 강화를 통해 경제개발 초기단계부터 개발파트너십을 강화하는 전략이 필요하다. 지식 및 인적 교류사업 확대, 특히 지식이전을 통해 몽골의 경제개발에 도움을 줄 수 있으며 더 나아가 북한의 개혁ㆍ개방에 대비한 유사경험도 축적 할 수 있을 것이다. 따라서 한국은 몽골에 해외투자 등을 통해 보다 적극적으로 경제협력을 할 필요가 있다. 이는 최근 들어 더욱 심도 깊게 논의되고 있는 동북아지역 경제협력에서 한국의 입지와 역할을 더욱 키울 수 있을 것이기 때문이다.
