In the 2000s, product does not mean only the functionality and design high concept to recognize the cultural code for cultduck is being sought. In recent years, fashion design industry require trend of rising threshold that are fraught with emotional messages. In the field of fashion, more interesting, more brilliant, more brilliant, and the newer something is represented from rising threshold. These trends can be interpreted as Retro trend such as Various decorative, self-expression, Human emotion & attention of the past, and romantic interpretation of the future. 'Retro' fashion as the various forms has been constantly been reinvented that is firmly established itself as the recent fashion trends. These trend are appearing in the shoes design as well as fashion design. Up to now, study on fashion shoes with a different type was performed. However, there are few researches for relationship between shoes design and cultural phenomenon. In this study, the concept and background of 'Retro' examines that is the 21st century mega trend. Based on the flow of fashion and shoes in the 2000s, the 'Retro' characteristics of shoes design should be analyzed. In addition, Retro fashion's aesthetic features are analyzed. Corelation of the retro and the shoe design is examined. Through the collection of the works, formative characteristics of a modern shoe designs are analyzed by reflecting the Retro style. In John Galliano and Alexander McQueen's collection, fashion shoes are were analyzed with shape, material, detail, and color. As a result, formative vs restrained exaggerated features, romantic eroticism vs modern future algorithms, and Funky Retro Style vs Chic Retro Style are appeared.

2000년대에는 사고자 하는 물건을 기능과 디자인만의 소유가 아닌 문화적 코드인 컬덕으로 인식하는 하는 컨셉이 추구되고 있다. 문화산업의 중요한 요소인 패션과 다양한 디자인 분야에서는 감성과 메시지를 내포한 역치상승의 디자인 트렌드가 요구되고 있다. 특히, 패션분야에 있어서 더 재미있게, 더 기발하며, 더 화려하고, 더 새로운 그 무엇인가를 추구하는 역치상승의 경향은 다양한 장식과 표현 형식의 자율성, 인간적인 감성과 과거에 대한 관심, 미래에 대한 낭만적 해석 등의 ‘레트로(Retro) 경향’으로 해석될 수 있다. 이렇게 최근 패션 트렌드로 확고하게 자리매김을 하고 있는 ‘복고풍’의 유행은 다양한 형태로 끊임없이 새롭게 재창조되어지고 있다. 이러한 시대적인 유행은 패션 뿐 아니라 슈즈디자인에서도 나타나고 있다. 본 연구에서는 21세기 메가 트렌드(mega trend)로 부상하고 있는 ‘레트로(Retro)’의 개념과 형성 배경을 살펴보고, 2000년대의 패션과 슈즈의 흐름을 바탕으로 슈즈 디자인에 표현된 ‘레트로(Retro)’적인 조형 특성을 연구하고자 한다. 또한 ‘레트로(Retro)’ 스타일의 패션적인 미적 기능과 슈즈 디자인의 연계성을 알아보고, 컬렉션 작품을 통해 ‘레트로(Retro)’ 스타일이 반영된 현대 슈즈 디자인의 조형성을 분석하는 것에 목적을 두었다. 결과적으로 ‘존 갈리아노’와 ‘알렉산더 맥퀸’ 컬렉션의 패션슈즈를 형태, 소재, 디테일, 색상의 조형요소로 나누어 분석한 결과 과장된 조형성과 절제된 기능성, 로맨틱한 에로티시즘과 모던한 퓨처리즘, 펑키레트로스타일과 쉬크레트로스타일로 나타났다.
