The researches on gambling addiction have made active progress until now, but the researches on university students are still not enough since the previous researches have treated general people for the most part. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to investigate status of university students’ adult gambling and to examine how their interest for adult gambling and their irrational belief for gambling had an effect on gambling poisoning and their intention for gambling in the future. The results of the study were as follows. The study showed that Korean university students’ adult gambling poisoning was in very serious conditions by disclosing that 70 persons out of the total 537 survey were a serious addict (13%). University students’ knowledge and irrational belief for gambling had a positive (+) effect on gambling poisoning level and their intention for gambling. And their interest for gambling had a negative (-) effect on gambling poisoning level. The study will give a help in making people have more accurate recognition about university students’ seriousness in adult gambling poisoning and pay attention to them continuously and will be reference data for policies to prevent gambling poisoning.

그간 학계의 노력으로 이제 우리나라에도 도박중독에 관한 선행연구가 어느 정도 축적되었다. 그러나 아직까지는 그 연구대상이 주로 일반인이거나 사행산업종사자이고 대학생 그룹에 관한 연구는 매우 드문 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 대학생들을 대상으로 그들의 성인도박 실태와 중독정도에 대하여 조사하고 그들이 가지는 성인도박에 대한 관심과 비합리적인 도박신념이 현재의 도박중독 정도와 미래의 도박의사에 어떠한 영향을 미치는 지를 조사하였다. 연구결과 예상보다 많은 대학생들이 성인도박에 노출되어 있다는 것과 특히 전체 조사대상 537명중 70명이 중증 중독자(13%)로 판정될 정도로 우리나라 대학생들의 성인도박 중독실태가 매우 심각한 상황임을 확인하였다. 또한 성인도박에 대한 지식과 비합리적 도박신념은 미래 도박의사와 도박심각도에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것을 확인하였다. 한편 성인도박에 대한 관심은 예상외로 미래도박의사에 영향을 미치지 않았고 도박심각도에는 부(-)의 영향을 미쳤다. 학계와 업계에서는 대학생들의 성인도박에 대한 무방비적인 노출과 도박중독의 심각한 실태에 대하여 정확히 인식하고 지속적인 관심을 기울여야 할 것이다. 본 연구의 결과는 정부의 대학생 도박중독 예방 정책 수립과 실행을 위한 하나의 참고자료로서 활용할 수 있을 것이다.
