The purpose of this study is to find that there is any relationship between Maladaptive Perfectionism of elementary school students and academic procrastination and find the method to help elementary school students who are facing inadequacy by academic procrastination by confirming Mediating effect of failure fear in the relationship between Maladaptive Perfectionism and academic procrastination. In this study, the survey was performed with the objects of 385 students of 5th and 6th grade in Kyonggi-province and Incheon metraopolitan city elementary school. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the correlation between Maladaptive perfectionism and sub-variables of failure fear showed significantly positive relationship. In other words, the higher score of Maladaptive perfectionism, the higher the level of failure fear and the higher concern about mistakes, doubts, parent expectations and parental criticism, the higher level of failure fear. Investigating the relationship between maladaptive perfectionism and academic procrastination, it shows positive relationship of low degree. It means the higher score of failure fear, the higher academic procrastination. Second, mediating effects of failure fear completely mediate in the relationship of he Maladaptive perfectionism and academic procrastination. Thus, we can find that maladaptive perfectionism via failure fear influence academic procrastination. This study verified mediating effects of failure fear regarding the effects of Maladaptive perfectionism to academic procrastination for the target of elementary school students of 5th and 6th grade and helps psychological adjustment related to academic procrastination according to Maladaptive perfectionism and counseling and life guidance by providing implications to decrease failure fear.
