From Ontology to Ehyehlogia -Hisao Miyamoto’s Ehyehlogia- Kim, San-Choon (Sogang Univ.) Auschwitz is not a case of tragedy that became a past. Its totalitarianism has become a starting point of crises and ruins of today’s humanity. How can one find a clue in thought to an escape from the tragedy? Miyamoto finds the hotbed of Auschwitz in terms of thought. Considering a genealogy of Greek philosophy, he maintains that the problem of dehumanization annihilating the other is rooted in onto-theo-logia of Aristotle, Descartes, Nietzsche, and Heidegger. Thus, turning to Christian thought, he finds in Hebrew tradition-by interpreting the literature of the Old Testament, especially the story of Moses in ExSodus-a key to convivialité that is open to the other. That is the beginning of his ehyehlogia. The first person singular future perfect ‘ehyeh’ of the Hebrew ‘exist’ verb ‘hayah’, which God employs in Exodus to describe His nature, implies that God is not an unchanging eternal selfsame one(le même), but that God is without ceasing in ek-statsis towards a new border and, furthermore, the ek-stasis is an arrival to the other. Therefore, ‘ehyeh’ has the meaning of convivialité in the sense of ‘realizing a common life with the other.’ The most important thing in methodological practice of ehyehlogia is pneumatological interpretation. In such interpretation, we encounter an ‘alien’ as the other of the present age, which is the 297 ‘face’ Levinas talks about. It is through a surplus-encounter with the ‘face,’ which makes us say ‘I am you,’ that we go over the abyss of Auschwitz, the symbol of das radikale Böse. Therefore, ‘ehyeh’ can be said to be a source of energy that creates continually a new story
