The effects of Gestalt collective art therapy on the self-efficacy and peer relationships of children in local children center

This study is to look into the effects of collective art therapy adapted from the Gestalt theory on self-efficacy and peer relationships of children in the local children center. The study was done from February 22nd, 2011 to May 3rd, 201 covering Gestalt art therapy program research, subject selection, observer training, pre-test, Gestalt art therapy program execution and application, post test and data processing. The subjects of the research were 6 upper graders in the elementary school of the I local children center located in city I and had 18 sessions, each 70 minutes twice a week. In order to check the efficiency of the 18 collective art sessions, we have implemented the preㆍpost self-efficacy test and peer relationship test and contemplated on each session. In terms of research tools, we have used the following test papers. For the self efficacy test, we have modified and complemented the test papers made by Kim Ah-Young(1997) based on the 「General Self-Efficacy Scale」made by Sherer etc(1982). For peer relationship test, we have used the version of Park In-Suk(2008) who modified the Furman(1985) version of Network of Relationships Inventory(NRI) and used the KSD picture test developed by Knoff and Prout(1988). In terms of data analysis, we used the SPSS 18.0 program and extracted the average and standard deviation of the self-efficacy and peer relationship of children and analyzed the counter sample T and ran statistics and qualitative analysis. The following results were unearthed from the above study. First, in order to verify the effects of the Gestalt art therapy on the self-efficacy of the children of the local children center, we have used the self-efficacy test and found that although the lower level of task difficulty had no big significance, in average, the post score was higher than the pre score by 0.75 that means it had positive effects. Second, in order to verify the effects of Gestalt collective art therapy on the peer relationship of local children center, the post score was higher than pre score by 1.01 through the peer relationship test that means it has positive effects. The results from such study shows that the group that participated in the Gestalt art therapy had high significance with self-efficacy and peer relationship that means it had positive effects. Such study results shows that the Gestalt collective art therapy can be effectively used in helping the children in local children center realize their status and environment and form positive energy and self-efficacy and peer relationship.

본 연구는 지역아동센터 아동을 대상으로 게슈탈트 이론을 적용한 집단미술치료 프로그램이 자기효능감과 또래관계에 미치는 효과와 학교생활그림의 변화를 살펴보고자 한 것이다. 연구의 진행은 2011년 2월 22일부터 2011년 5월 3일에 걸쳐 게슈탈트 미술치료 프로그램 연구, 대상자 선정, 관찰자 훈련, 사전검사, 게슈탈트미술치료 프로그램 실시 및 적용, 사후검사, 자료처리의 순으로 이루어졌다. 연구의 대상은 I시에 위치한 I지역아동센터의 초등학교 고학년 6명을 대상으로 주2회 70분씩 총18회기를 실시 하였다. 18회기의 게슈탈트 집단 미술치료 효과를 확인하기 위하여 사전ㆍ사후 자기 효능감 척도와 또래관계 척도를 실시하고, 회기별 고찰을 하였다. 연구결과는 게슈탈트 집단미술치료 프로그램이 지역아동센터 아동들에게 자기효능감과 또래관계를 향상시켰고, 학교생활그림의 긍정적인 변화에 영향을 주었음을 알 수 있었다.
