This research recognizes the medium for students by using musical instrument expressing their experiences and feelings through various circumstances in every daily lives as music drama, and it examined educational usage by focusing on visualization of music and structural principle of music shown in Kagel's instrumental theatre.
The development of creativity is one of the most important purpose in music education. The music drama provides creative musical experiences and opportunity to actively participate in performance.
This research especially focuses on the meaning of Kagel's instrumental music, so the research looks into musical structure and characteristics of Kagel's instrumental theatre pieces and takes out educational usage factors. Through Kagel's pieces, instrumental music doesn't confine to traditional music, and includes areas which not only show sounds such as varous instruments and human voices, but also show musical principle with no sounds. In this method, Kagel pursues visualization of music and composes dramatic and synthetic pieces, so he is called the frontier of modern music drama through his outstanding creativity and great humors shown in his pieces. His instrumental theatre plays enough role in giving the medium of imagination and expressiveness to students with infinite potential.
Instrumental theatre's activity has close relationship with the way of life of music, and plays a role in classroom because it combines various music activities. In music education, the contents of the way of life and expression activity are very relevant to those of Instrumental theatre. Thus, in the future, if the education method about contents related to Instrumental theatre is adopted in school, it is quite helpful for students to form musical concept, and to improve the way of life of music and musical creativity and expressivness.

본 연구에서는 학생들이 일상 생활 속에서 겪게 되는 여러 가지 상황 속에서의 자신의 경험
과 느낌을 가능한 모든 음악적 도구를 활용하여 표현할 수 있도록 하는 매개체를 음악극으로 보고, 카겔의 기악극에서 보여지는 음악의 시각화와 음악적 구성 원칙에 초점을 맞추어 그것의 교육적 활용의 의미에 관해 연구하였다. 음악 교육에서 중요한 목표 중의 하나는 창의성 계발인데, 음악극은 창의적인 음악체험을 가능하게 하고 연주 활동에 적극적으로 참여할 수 있는 기회를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
이 연구에서 특히 초점을 맞춘 것은 카겔의 기악에 대한 의미로 그의 작품에서 악곡 구성과
특징들을 살펴보고 교육적 활용 요소를 추출하였다. 이 작품들에서 기악은 전통 악기에 한정되는 것이 아니라, 일상 생활의 모든 소품들 및 사람의 목소리를 비롯해 음향을 낼 수 있는 모든 가능한 도구와 음향을 내지 않더라도 음악적 원칙을 제시하는 영역까지를 포함한다. 이를 바탕으로 카겔은 음악적 시각화를 추구하며 극적이고 종합적인 곡을 작곡하였고, 뛰어난 상상력과 작품에서 보여지는 유머로 현대 음악극의 기수라는 평가를 받고 있다. 그의 기악극의 특징은 무한한 잠재력을 가진 학생들에게 그들의 상상력과 표현력을 펼쳐줄 매개체의 역할을 충분히 할 수 있을 것이다.
음악극 활동은 음악의 생활화와 밀접하게 관련을 가지고 있으며, 음악의 여러 활동들을 종합할 수 있는 장점이 있어 교실 안에서의 활용 가치가 높다. 카겔의 기악극을 활용한 음악극의 적용 활동은 학생들의 음악적 개념 형성과 음악의 생활화 및 음악적 창의성과 표현력의 향상에도 도움이 될 것이다.
