This study investigated recent situation of the physical education class offered at J Do Area alternative high schools and the student’s needs regarding this class. Ninety four student’s responded to the questionnaires asking their needs on the contents and the ways of the physical education classes offered at their alternative schools. and, 2 teachers responded to the deep interviews and asking the recent situation of the physical education classes at their alternative schools. Data were analyzed using frequency analysis, repeated measurement analysis of variance, and Chi test. Findings are as follows. First, all of the alternative schools in J Do offered the physical education class. These schools were teaching one sports item Tae Kwon Do and, once a week for one and a fifty minute. The teachers reported that a physical education teacher in Alternative schools can refer to the Ministry of Education and the curriculums for P.E. A physical education teacher in Alternative schools expect that ALT-PE, feedback and Physical strength are high. The Alternative schools don’t get the influences from the dean’s interest, the culture of the teacher, the culture of the student and the characteristics of the students’ parents which affect to the curriculums. The students reported that physical education classes were helpful for feeling enjoyment and relationships with friends, and maintaining good health. However they also reported that poor curriculums, the bothersomeness in preparing for the class, and the absence of space and facilities were main problems that made them feel boring during the class. Findings on the students’ need regarding the contents and the ways the physical education class is operated suggest that the J Do alternative high school physical education classes can be activated by supports from athletic facilities and universities communities.
