The great philosopher Heagang had revolutionized the Korean philosophical tradition by way of producing several key concepts in the history of Korean Philosophy. One of them is the Ki-philosophy. Some considerations of 'Chu-Chuk' and 'Beyn-Tong' could cover the Ki-philosophist. Of course there is another one. It is ‘Un-Wha‘ which means the whole energy mastering and caressing the universal cosmos. These main concepts of Haegang' philosophy are connected with a kind of the kantian categorical imperative named 'Sung-sun' that has not words or images but the proper logic of the situation following the time and place. We should keep an eye on the revolutionary meaning of the self in Haegang's philosophy for two reasons. The one is that Haegang's new concept of the self introduced the extremely progressive concept of the body in the profound philosophical context. The other is that it founded the concept of the creative and generative Self on the basis of his Ki-philosophy which differs from that of traditional ideology at that times. In this essay I try to justify these two arguments in the new hermeneutics context of Heagang's Ki-philosophy.

혜강은 자신의 기학적 인간관에 근거한 정밀한 논변을 통하여 조선조 학문사상 최초로 리의 허상에서 해방된 자아를 정립해간다. 혜강이 독창적으로 창안한 기학의 키워드인 추측과 변통은 이 논변의 추뉴를 형성한다. 요컨대 기는 추측과 변통이라는 운화를 통해 성리학적 형이상학의 속박에 붙들려있던 허상의 자아에 생명의 속살을 채워 넣는다. 이렇게 해서 매순간 경험되고 생성되는 기학적 자아는 전통적 가치 틀에 의해 주조된 선험적 자아의 통렬한 전복이다. 우리는 두 가지 이유에서 혜강의 자아론에 주목한다. 하나는 한국사상사에서 완벽하게 묵살되어왔던 몸의 감각을 통한 몸담론을 선구적으로 이끌었다는 것이고, 다른 하나는 기학적 몸담론의 관점에서 생성적인 자아론을 전개시켰다는 것이다. 이 소론은 그 두 가지 이유를 정당화시키는 논변이다. 전자의 정당화 근거는 그의 운화론이고, 후자의 정당화 논거는 추측론과 변통론이다. 물론 이 두 가지는 서로가 서로를 조응하며 심원한 탐론의 층위에서 ‘승순’의 고리로 깊이 연계된다.
