This study has explored a methodology which is concerned with the question of how the preacher should present a sermon on the psalms. More specifically, in a way that is compatible with the recent trend in the studies of psalms, our attention has been drawn to how the book of Psalms were canonically shaped to constitute a coherent whole. On the macro level, the psalms in the book of Psalms were arranged to be a self-sustained whole. At the same time, on the micro level, individual psalms can be interpreted in their immediate literary contexts. Then, it has been proposed that preaching the Psalms should be presented in such a way that individual psalms should be interpreted in relation to their adjacent psalms and books of which they are part, and then to the entire Psalter. There are a variety of scholarly opinions about the strategy according to which the final shape of the book of Psalms was formed. This study, among others, has made a case that the overarching message of the entire Psalter is intended to revolve around the urge to transform the human heart. In other words, the semantic focus of the Psalms is on the teaching that we should have the word (torah) of the Lord within our heart no matter what the situations, and then we are able to receive the blessing from Zion. With these observations in mind, our study has proposed three steps for preaching the Psalms. First, the preacher should analyze the structure of a psalm and determine sermon topics reflecting the thematic flow of the psalm. Second, the sermon topics culled out from a psalm should be interpreted by attending to its adjacent psalms and books where they are part. Third, the preacher should view his messages in terms of how they are related to the overarching theme of the entire Psalter, that is, the transformation of the heart.

본 연구는 시편 해석의 새로운 경향에 맞추어서 시편을 어떻게 효과적으로 설교할 수 있을지 그 방법론을 연구하는 데에 그 목적이 있다. 오늘날 시편 해석은 시편 전체가 통일성을 가진 책으로 배열되었다는 새로운 인식 속에서 시편을 연구한다. 개개의 시편들은 아무렇게나 배열된 것이 아니라 거시적인 차원과 미시적인 차원에서 서로 연결되도록 최종 완성되었다. 구체적으로 시편의 최종 형태는 탄식에서 찬양으로 이어지는데, 이것은 신학적으로 다윗왕권의 붕괴와 맞물려 전개된다. 하지만 다윗왕권의 붕괴는 하나님의 왕권에 대한 강조로 인해 반전이 일어난다. 그래서 하나님의 왕권에 대한 희망과 다윗왕권의 회복을 기대하는 분위기 속에서 시편 5권가 끝난다. 이와 같은 통일성이 있는 책으로서의 시편에 중심 메시지가 무엇인가 대해서는 학자들의 견해는 다양하다. 혹자는 하나님의 왕권, 시온, 율법 등을 제시한다. 하지만 필자는 본 논문에서 그 핵심 메시지를 마음의 변화에 있다고 주장했다. 시편은 마음에 율법에 새기고 어떤 고난 속에서도 하나님을 온전히 의지하는 자세를 독자들에게 교훈한다. 이와 같은 시편 해석 속에서 필자는 시편도 새로운 경향에 맞추어 설교되어야 한다고 제안했다. 이를 위해 구체적으로 시편 설교를 위한 단계들이 무엇인지를 살폈다. 첫 번째 단계는 한 개의 시편을 선택하고, 그 시편의 구조를 분석하는 것이다. 이런 구조 분석은 개개의 시편의 중심 메시지를 분별할 수 있도록 도와준다. 이런 분석을 토대로 설교자는 시편 안에서 설교 대지를 정할 수 있다. 더 나아가 설교 대지 상호간의 의미론적 일관성을 파악할 수 있다. 두 번째 단계는 설교 대지와 관련된 신학적 주제들이 어떻게 주위 시에서 발견되는지 고찰하는 것이다. 이런 작업은 설교 대지의 내용을 풍성화하게 해 줄 것이다. 마지막 단계는 설교 대지와 관련해서 그것들이 전체 시편의 시각에서 어떻게 연결되는지를 밝히는 것이다. 즉 마음의 변화와 관련해서 설교할 내용들이 어떻게 기여하는지를 살피는 것이다. 이와 같은 시편 설교 단계에 대한 설명이 추상적으로 끝나지 않기 위해서 시편 8편, 23편, 그리고 97편을 선택하여 실제 설교의 예를 제시하였다.
