This study is designed to identify social enterprises for discharged prisoners in Korea. Particularly, in this study a framework of analysis is devised from the following three dimensions; discharged prisoners’ needs and situations related with social enterprise, social enterprises’ needs and situations, and the root images of Symbolic Interactionism. The qualitative data is collected in-depth interviews with the professional staff of rehabilitation institutions and social enterprises. Finally, five core themes to develop social enterprises for discharged prisoners are drew out as follows; 1) generalization of discharged prisoners’ subjugating situations and enterprises’ insuring management capacities, 2) genuine and active understanding between discharged prisoners and members of social enterprises, 3) development of discharged prisoners’ and social enterprises’ latency including individual normalization of social enterprises, 4) systemic efforts made by discharged prisoners and government including social enterprises, and 5) creational development of social enterprises.

이 연구의 목적은 출소자를 위한 사회적기업이 구체적으로 나아가야 할 방향을 모색하는 데 있다. 특히 수집한 자료를 개관적으로 분석하기 위해 사회적기업에 관한 출소자의 욕구와 처지, 사회적기업의 욕구와 처지, 상징적 상호작용이론의 기본이미지 들에 근거해 만든 분석틀을 적용했다. 자료수집은 출소자의 취업을 도모한 경험자와 사회적기업 관리자와 실시한 심층면접으로 이루어졌고, 문헌조사를 통해 상징적 상호작용이론의 기본이미지로부터 분석틀에 활용할 자료를 이끌어냈다. 수집한 자료를 분석한 결과 출소자를 위한 사회적기업은 1) 출소자의 처지 극복과 기업의 운영능력 확보 일상화, 2) 출소자와 기업구성원들 간 진정한 이해와 활발한 소통, 3) 출소자와 기업의 잠재력 개발과 기업의 개성적 정상화, 4) 출소자 및 기업구성원과 정부 및 시민의 순차적 노력, 5) 출소자와 기업구성원의 창조적 변화에 중점을 두는 방향으로 나아가야 하는 것으로 드러났다.
