This paper is critic on the HK agenda about 'Humanities of Unification’ of Center for Humanity Research of Konkuk University. In this agenda we catch first of all an attempt to achieve the different level unification beyond usual modern nation state founded on proto-nationality established by new national community in order to contribute to East-Asian and World History. Secondly this agenda try to resurrect the proper realm of humanities according the demands of the time and to achieve the critical and openness of truth and self-reflection. This attempt could be realized if we overcome the harmful habits of realm defense and struggle between Social Science and Humanities. In third place this agenda present that the Humanities of Unification will achieve the creation of common life-culture through the communication of heterogeneous society, healing the trauma made in the process of disunification and its habitus. In that process they attempt the subjectical appropriation of the notions as difference, boundary and otherness expecting that the intense social plurality and diversity would contribute to the development of Humanities in Korea. But I would like to remark that the concepts are related to the dominating strategy of global capitalism trying to demolish the boundary of nation state market, the global market use technically the terms like difference, diversity, nomad and hybridity. And further it recall the purpose of this kind of strategy is the apparent symptom of deterritorial capitalist empire. In this time requiring the tolerance and the rapprochement it is necessary to restructure the democratic order and the nationalism of the ideologies of Left and Right. It is the discourse of 'neo-nationalism' which devote the rapprochement and the unification of South and North. Make 'Korean' nation state a civil community which embody liberty and equality recognizing the difference of culture, consciousness and life-styles it will be never a resurrection of the ethno-nationalism which is exclude the others. Rather it require to be the plural civil nationalism as opened nationality accepting the universal particularity oriented to the coexistence and symbiosis with other nations. The 'Humanities of Unification' has required the character of discoursal struggle to secure its legitimacy competing to other conservative discourse in the name of social science or ideology. In consequence the reality focused research of 'Humanities of Unification’ agenda will be embodied as a peace movement which will be realized by the peace education.

통일인문학 제안서는 한민족의 통일문제도 인간에 대한 근원적 질문에서 출발할 것과, 한국인문학이 실천적 관점에서 분단극복과 통일을 인문학적으로 성찰하기를 요청하는 실천인문학이다. 이것은 그동안 분단 현실은 사회과학적 접근과 정세분석을 요청한다고 생각해온 논평자의 고정 관념을 깨트린 시도이기에 주목할 만하다. 통일인문학의 장점은, 첫째 통일을 기존의 원초론적 민족국가론에 입각한 민족의 재결합이나 근대국가의 완성이라는 과제를 넘어서 새로운 인간중심의 가치를 실현하는 민족 통일국가의 건설, 즉 남과 북이 새로운 민족공동체에서 동아시아와 세계사에 공헌하는 공동승리의 전망을 세우는 점이다. 둘째, 사회과학과 인문학의 고질적인 영토 지키기 습성과 대립이란 폐해를 극복하고 시대성과 비판적 성격 및 진리의 개방성과 자기 성찰성이라는 인문학의 본령을 회복하여 가치를 소생시키려는 시도이다. 세번째, 남과 북의 이질적 사회의 소통, 분단의 트라우마 치유 그리고 분단의 아비투스를 민족공통의 생활문화 창조로 극복하려는 통합의 인문학을 제시한다. 그 과정에서 현재 서구 인학문의 주요 용어인 차이, 경계, 타자 등의 개념을 주체적으로 변용하여 한국인문학의 자양분으로 삼고자한다. 이에 논평자는 경계, 타자, 차이 같이 사회적 다양성을 강조하는 용어들이 전지구적 자본주의의 지배전략과 연관되었다는 관점, 다시 말하면 세계시장이 국민국가의 경계를 파괴하면서 차이와 다양성, 유목과 잡종성 개념을 구사하는 것이 탈영토적 자본주의 제국의 출현 징후라고 보는 관점에도 주목을 환기시킨다. 통일인문학은 국가민족론을 넘어서 화해와 통일에 기여하는 ‘신민족주의' 담론, 요컨대 기존의 좌와 우의 이념을 포용하는 민주적 민족주의로 재구성하는 과제와 직면한다. 남과 북의 문화, 의식, 생활방식의 차이를 인정하며 자유롭고 평등한 시민공동체로서 ‘한민족’을 만들어가는 과정은 배타적인 종족적 민족주의의 부활이 아니라, 다른 민족과의 평화적 공존과 공영을 지향하는 ‘열린 민족주의’이며 보편적 특수성을 실현하는 다원적인 시민 민족주의일 것을 제안한다. 그런 점에서 통일인문학은 남한 시민사회 내부에서 보수담론 체계와 경쟁하며 정당성 확보를 요청받는 담론투쟁의 성격도 내포한다. 나아가 분단 극복은 민족 내부의 깊은 상처의 치유를 요청하면서 인간의 보편적 상처를 성찰할 기회를 제공한다. 이 점에서 통일인문학이 소통과 치유 그리고 통합을 목표로 삼는 것은 지극히 공감할 만하다. 통일인문학은 또한 단순히 인문학의 실용성을 목표로 삼는 것을 넘어서 인문학적 현실 탐구능력을 평화운동과 평화교육으로 구현하리라 기대하도록 만든다.
