This Thesis is The aim of this Thesis is not simply to compare Hegel's dialectic of becoming with paticcasamuppāda thought in buddhism, but to reveal their core of thought and make them meet each other. In Hegel's dialectic of becoming we can discover the common, original and universal ways of thinking which penetrate the east and the west. They are the thought of arising, extinction and change, the thought of reconciliation of opposition and the thought of relationship. Paticcasamuppāda thought in buddhism appears in various forms in various buddhist Sutra. But its point is based on Buddha's following teaching: "When this is present, that comes to be. From the arising of this, that arises. When this is absent, that dose not come to be. On the cessation of this, that ceases." In paticcasamuppāda thought in buddhism we can also discover the thought of arising, extinction and change, the thought of reconciliation of opposition and the thought of relationship. Therefore, although they are heterogeneous thought, there is a thread of connection between them in point of their common, original and universal ways of thinking which penetrate the east and the west.
