his article, "The Kaintian Tendency of Hanson and Kuhn in Modern Philosophy of Science", Professor Park Jong-Sik attempts to compare the priority of categories to the given in Kant's philosophy with the priority of paradigm to the sense-data in Kuhn's scientific revolutions. Professor Park says that "there are no neutral facts in observation according to the positions of Kant, Hanson, Kuhn" and reaches the conclusion that Kuhn is a Kantian. In this article, I try to show that in Kant's system the meaning of the word 'categories' differs from that of the word 'paradigm'. On this basis, Kant believed that "there are neutral facts in observation" and Kuhn is not a Kantian. However, I try to show that Kuhn could be a Kantian, not in his 'theory-laden observation' but in his position 'in-between realism and constructivism'.

박종식 교수는 그의 논문 “현대 과학철학에서 핸슨과 쿤의 칸트주의적 경향”에서 칸트의 인식론에서 범주의 우선성과 쿤의 패러다임의 우선성을 비교하면서, 칸트의 영향으로 쿤이 전통적으로 많은 과학자들이 믿어온 이론 중립적 관찰을 부정했다는 측면에서 쿤은 칸트주의자라고 주장하였다. 그러나 필자는 칸트의 범주의 우선성이 이론 중립적 관찰이 존재하지 않는다는 주장을 함축하지 않기 때문에 박 교수의 주장과 같은 의미에서는 쿤이 칸트주의자가 아니라는 주장을 전개하려고 한다. 나아가 쿤이 칸트주의자일 수 있다면 그것은 박 교수의 주장과는 달리 ‘이론의존적 관찰’ 때문이 아니라, ‘실재론과 구성주의의 사이-안에 존재하는’ 그의 반실재론적 입장 때문이라는 것을 보여주려고 한다.
